First Class Service - IC-756 ProII Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
UPDATE - Sept. 2021

As W1RC has pointed out, Mike's repair shop is now closed. His QRZ.com page has a simple notice that says: "Note: My radio repair business is closed."
The www.N1EQ.com website no longer exists. It would appear that Mike has retired. I wish him good luck. I wish that some of his notes and articles on some of the more common rig maladies were still available somewhere. Maybe he will archive them somewhere some day.
----------------------------------

Mike recently repaired a pair of IC-756 Pro-II radios for me.

He happily answered all my emails and questions in a timely fashion and let me know what the progress was along the way. His charges were very reasonable and affordable. He also turned the radios around relatively quickly and each radio was back in less than two weeks from when I shipped it out. They spent more time in shipping than they did at Mike's place. I can't say what his back log will be at any given time but I know that some other shops can take several weeks or even months.

Mike specializes in a group of Icom radios that are very popular and sold millions of units. Check his website to see if your rig is included in what he repairs. He also has several articles there which he's written on some of the more common maladies for these rigs.

I highly recommend Mike and would not hesitate to use him again if I had needed another repair on a radio he services.

Shop Closed Indefinitely (April 2021) Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This is not a review of Mike’s excellent ICOM service. There are ten pages of excellent testimonials. It has been some time since Mike has been accepting radios for repair and of this writing the only message his web site informs visitors that his shop is closed indefinitely.

Repaired my 746Pro - GREAT service! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I contacted Mike Nadeau after my IC-746Pro developed a low power output / high current draw problem on all bands. He was recommended by a member of the 746Pro Groups forum. Icom does not support or repair this model any longer, of course.

After speaking with Mike, I send my 746Pro to him for repair. Mike repaired my radio in amazingly short time and performed some mods to prevent a future failure. He even sent back the defect parts.

His communication with me was excellent. His service rates are exceptionally reasonable and turn around time was fast. My radio was returned to me in well under two weeks and now works perfectly. I'm impressed.

I highly recommend Mike Nadeau for repair of any Icom HF model that he supports. Look no further - Mike is the man to talk to.

He deserves a 10 star rating.

Repaired IC-756PRO3 when ICOM wouldn't Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Mike has a quick repair for the fading display backlight. Originally was going to send into Icom but they don't fixed "old" discontinued radios any more. Fast turn around and reasonable repair rate for the fix.

IC-746Pro Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Based on his stellar reviews, I sent Mike my 746Pro to do the LED upgrade and see if any other issues needed addressed. I acquired the radio a little over a year ago and was unaware of the rigs history or if any of the recommended factory upgrades were done. A couple were done, some were not. He did the needed upgrades and replaced some parts known to fail over time as well. The LED upgrade looks great. He provided a list of all parts replaced and even sent the old ones back. If I have a radio needing service and it's on his list of rigs he services, it will be sent to him. A great experience.

Hi- I had Mike repaired My 706MK2G in 2014. I acquired a 746PRO. Some of the buttons across the bottom of the radio got stuck and did not work. Mike fixed them. My radio was first generation. He put in the upgrades. Five star rating all the way. 73-Steve

IC 7600 Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Mike was excellent. He responded very promptly to all requests. In addition he gave me things to try before I decided to send it to him for repair. Once the radio was received it was turned around in one day.
I would give him a A++ rating and believe me I don't do that very often.

Awesome! Fixed My IC-718 Remote Rig Control (CI-V) Failure Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Excellent experience! I explained the issue I was having with my remote connection and he nailed it! He replaced the part that, I'm positive I somehow blew-up, and it's fixed! I followed his instructions and everything went as planned. Fast repair, fast turnaround, more than reasonable repair cost and he treated me respectfully even though I was the one that blew-up the thing! LOL.

Just a side note about the problem I had - the remote data port seems to be a "weak link" with ICOM legacy products. It forces the use of ICOM's multi connection serial interface which most people won't bother with and instead, they, we, I tried using a USB port adapter cable. I'm guessing the poor China quality probably "bit me" in the end, so to speak. However, if you look at the serial port circuitry, there appears to be no isolation between the dual transistor and the port connection. I'm not sure if the crappy USB adapter destroyed the transistor or was it ESD? Or...? Whatever the case, it's fixed.

Thank you Mike. I will certainly use you again and I will tell all my ham buddies.
