Must have Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have built several Rockmites and HiMites. I absolutely love these little addon chips. I recently completed a RM-20 that I had put on a backburner and forgot about. When I turned it on, I was disappointed to find that I only had the basic chip. I forgot that the PicoKeyer was an add-on for my previous Rockmites - they're that useful.

I love the Memory Keyer which is indispensable for QRPp work. The "Tune" mode is also a god-send. You can change the sidetone on the RM and even run in beacon mode. Hats off to Dale at HamGadgets for this little wonder, it's a perfect compliment to the Rockmite and definitely a must-have addition.

Crazy not to buy it! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
If you own a Rockmite transceiver or are planning to build one, you absolutely have to get this keyer chip. For just a few bucks you get a built-in keyer with more features than the average Ham will ever use.

It is a direct and easy replacement for the PIC that coms with the Rockmite kit. The only extra step is installing a 10K resistor between pins 1 and 4 of the chip. This is either an easy 2-minute soldering job or you can just stick the leads of the resistor into the IC socket next to the pins.

Building and operating a Rockmite is a load of fun, and this little addition makes it even better. You get two 100-character memories, beacon mode, adjustable sidetone, auto-tune, and more. My favorite feature (worth the price alone) is the ability to stick a straight-key into the jack on the Rockmite, and have the keyer auto-magically detect it.

Thanks and 73,

John, WA6L
