buy one today Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have been running the Base version for a couple of years with my IC706, and just bought the Speaker version. It works every bit as well as the Base version, but is more convenient having the electronics built into the speaker housing. Before using the Clear Speech filter, I was suffering from spark plug noise, wiper noise, fuel pump noise - you get the idea. That is to say nothing of the noise from other cars. Noise in cities just disappears. This is a great product. If electrical noise is a problem, go out and buy one today. You will be glad you did.

This should be in your shack ! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I had looked at this last year at Dayton and couldnt see that it was something I would really use. What a bad decision. Bought one at Dayton this year (got the version with out the power switch and led - v 1.0). Brought it home and had it running in a few minutes. Didnt really see the true difference until I went through both of the 3905 Century Club nets I have been on - I worked several stations on 80 meters that I wouldnt have been able to hear otherwise without the clearspeech unit. I have the base unit and was surpised out how small it was.

The audio in some cases is a little tinny but with this kind of processing that is to be expected. I have been able to compensate for that in some cases by retuning on the signal. In these times, I know this is a bit of money to spend for an accessory but think about what it can do on supressing/eliminating the static crashes in your receive audio during a nearby storm ! This will definitely bring some enjoyment back to the hobby for me.

Worth the High Price! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I can't count the number of times I have skimmed
over the ads for these units, Thinking that was
just one more effort to get hams to part with
money...... For an overpriced speaker of some
type. I finally overheard others talking them
up over the air, And decided to take a chance on
trying one.
WOW!!!!! I agree with all of the positive
comments made for it!!! A super unit!!
The only reason I dont give it a solid "5" is the
HIGH price..... I would think that in todays market, The price could be somewhat less.....
BUT they DO WORK!!!! And are worth the high price.... But I would still like to see them
cheaper........

Really Works Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have an Icom 756 that has a loud Noise floor. I borrowed the Clear Speech base unit from a fellow Ham to try out. Immediately the High White Noise floor dropped off and the radio became a pleasure to listen to.
Hamming with the 756 for long periods became fun!

Works as advertised! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This is my second Clear Speech speaker. The latest version adds an on/off switch, LED power light, and apparently a better quality speaker.
(Clear Speech apparently reads eHam reviews)
I'd still like an in line fuse, but that's a minor complaint.
I won't re hash all the provious reviews, but suffice to say, this is the speaker I use all the time, and it does take a huge bite out of hash, static and background noise. When I turn it off, I immediately miss it. It's a keeper!

What do you expect Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had my speaker for about 1 year. I use it in my mobile with 706MKIIG (as the clearSpeech works much better then the onboard DSP) and have had GREAT results. Easily hear the faint signals and clears up the city interference. Gets rid of the pesky little noise without hurting the audio tones. FANTASTIC item. I recently purchased a new HF for the house and tried the clearSpeech in the house and was amazed. I am purchasing a base unit for the house.

UNBELIEVABLE Time Owned: more than 12 months.
AFTER HAVING A CLEARSPEECH SPEAKER IN MY MOBILE(IC 706 MKII) AND HAVING SUCH A GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH IT... I DECIDED TO TRY A BASE UNIT ON MY BASE STATION.. IC-756 PRO INTO A HOMEBREW 8" SUB-WOOFER SPEAKER WITH 300-3000 FREQ RESPONSE INSIDE A 1-1/2 FT X 2 FT AIRTIGHT CARPETED WOODEN BOX. THAT ALONE REALLY CUT DOWN THE WHITE NOISE ESPECIALLY ON 160 METERS, BUT WHEN I ADDED THE CLEARSPEECH BASE UNIT IT WAS UN-BELIEVABLE.. I'M NOT KIDDING 160 IS LIKE 2 METERS FM.. HARDLY ANY WHITE NOISE. WHEN A SIGNAL COMES ON IT'S CLEAR AND CLEAN, EVEN WITH S-8 OR S-9 NOISE ON THE S- METER. U-N-B-E-L-I-E-V-A-B-L-E... IF YOU WORK ANY 160 YOU WILL BE TRULY AMAZED.. JIM / W0HFG

outstanding, why wait.... Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I recieved this year as my only birthday/christmas present my speaker. I run a Icom 706 in the car not a mk ii or mkii G. so I don't have DSP. I have make many a contact on HF mobile but on my way to work everynight I dive 45 miles one way and 20 of that is through city streets and stop lights I would pickup allot of noise from stop lights and electrial lines. I would loose most anyone I would be talking to on 40m. Since I have installed the speaker I run the 706 with the preamp on and don't get any interference from anything. It makes my drive so enjoyable. It is nice to stay in a conversation the hole time.

Thanks to all and I would recommend it to anyone.
Even though I put a on/off switch in line and a fuse.

PS>>> By the way I think my wife Cindy appreiates it more than me. She will ride in the car with the HF rig on now.

Buy it, or suffer, your choice! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have been a Ham for 39 years. The Clear Speech DSP unit is probably the best accessory for the Ham Shack, or mobile, that I have ever purchased. I have used every DSP on the market and have been unimpressed with all of them. I own both the Clear Speech base and speaker unit. Be advised, however, that it is NOT intended to be a bandwidth filer. It is a background noise reduction device that can be used on ANY mode, under any condition. I like it on AM while listening to short wave, its wonderful on FM, and SSB and CW is miraculous. Buy one, or suffer with noise.

wonderful unit Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
OK, so it may not work for everyone's application. For sweeps, we (W0EEE) used a borrowed Clearspeech in line with all of our audio (headphones, heil proset, and speaker), to see how well it would knock down some of the local noise we hear on 40 and 80 meters. IT outperformed the DSP on our 847 by FAR for making those bands USEABLE. those of us that were operating are SOLD. these units are GREAT. now, yes, there are a few things that would be nice.... on/off indicator, fuses, SPEAKER volume adjust (it does seem to process the audio differently depending on the input audio level sometimes), and maybe an active amp (hey, why not...what's an LM386 really cost?)

again, this is based on OUR experiences (ok, MY experiences) your mileage may vary, but it let us use 40 and 80 EFFECTIVELY for a contest.

proof?
