Excellent Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Have had the 950SDX for 5 years (?). Work CW most of the time with some SSB and a very little bit of the digital modes. The SDX has most of the optional filters. The SDX drives an Alpha 78 (not often). Live in an area that has antenna restrictions (use stealth - full wave loop antennas).

On CW the QSK with or without the Alpha is outstanding. The ALC with the Alpha can be adjusted easily (on the Alpha) to keep the drive within limits. On receive - I can dig out very weak signals even with close interference.

FSK has been used with RTTY - great! SSB is fine (I just dont like yammer).

I am considering an ICOM-756PRO. Have read the other reviews of the PRO. I have an old IC-740 that still works great (selectivity is not on par with the SDX) and due to its age it does not have anywhere near the features of the SDX. I have also owned FT1000D, 850SAT, TR7, 820, and many others. The SDX is the best rig I have ever had from reliability, functionality, and overall capability perspectives.

A rework of the SDX with IF DSP would be wonderful. The Kenwood 2000 does not have any appeal for me.

STILL THE BEST Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Have had the SDX for a year and have brought in the Icom 756 Pro and the new Yaesu 1000MP Mark V,and guess what, the SDX still is number 1. I have all 3 rigs inline and can A/B them and the 950 wins out. I have had several signals that were so weak on the 950 that neither the Pro nor the Mark V could hear them. This isnt very often but it has happened.

absolutely great radio Time Owned: unknown months.
I have had a number of the high end radios, but this rig is by far the best overall package that I have owned. Is the best cw radio that is out there. Some say that Ten-Tec is the best, but all I can say , iss that the QSK is fabulous.
I use the rig a lot on AM with a pair of 3-500z`s
and have gotten fabulous repoirts with it. It is and probably remain the best sounding SSB on the bands. All I can say is that I love it. Is very expensive, But if one looks on the used market, one can find one for a fair price.
