Omniloop 80-10 Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Here is the deal, have done a lot of testing of antennas over the last 7 years an have not changed anything since last August. was checking out some antennas that have in storage and came across my 80-10 loop that I had up in 2008 and it had worked well, so installed it again so it could be tested against my present setups. I had cut the 290' 80-10 loop down to 260' so it would be resonant on 75m at 3945 and it truly does work its best there, of course with my LDG tuner will still work 80-10 meters well, The loop is at 18' at the lowest point an 25' and the highest point averaging about 22' overall, have a MQ26' Mini beam a G5RV both at 36' to the apex a 43' vertical with 3000' of radials and a A99 at 40' to the bottom of the antenna. The loop is quite but not as quite as the MQ-26 on 10-20m and is down on these bands on the average about 2-3+ s units on my FT5000D, on 40m the loop does quite well but is still down about 1 an 1/2 s units from the G5RV an on 75m where I talk. its about 1 s unit down , I do know the at the same height both these would preform similar, but unable to put the loop at 36' on this
property. Am going to do more testing with the loop by changing the bulum to a 2 1/2 bulum an install number 16# awg wire from the Nr 14# stranded awg wire that was supplied with a
3 to 1 bulum. The higher the apex the more signal received also more noise the antenna pulls in, so its harder to pick out those weak signals, so finding the sweet spot with antennas is very important for me

This is a good antenna, had ordered it a year or two ago, but some of my friends were putting up loops in our Rag Chew group and found it in the garage, now its up and at 290' it works good on all bands, but I shortened it to 260' so it would be primary used on 75M with very low SWR and it works very well, but its not a good move if you want to work all band, because it changes the second & thirds harmonics. I have a very good way of comparing antennas with the flick of a switch, this antenna holds it own at the 290' configuration. At 260' it works GREAT 3800/4000 MHZ with very low SWR, and will work most of the other bands with the radio's tuner using 100 watts. Just what I was looking for to fill out my small antenna farm. ............KB6HRT
