N4ATS Excellent Service & Repair Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I should've written this months ago! Bill Grassa has been there every time I needed assistance with equipment or instruction. He completed the work I needed with excellence as well as provided necessary instruction. In addition, he sold me some excellent equipment. Fortunately, he lives close enough that he has provided plenty of support and encouragement in my earliest days of amateur radio. Kudos to Bill!

FTDX5000 OLEDs Working Again! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The first thing I have to say is boy am I impressed! I have an early production Yaesu FTDX5000 that I really enjoy operating. Due to a manufacturing defect with the OLED displays they have been getting dimmer and dimmer over the years until there was no display at all. Due to the size and weight of the radio I was always hesitant to send it to Yaesu for repairs. In comes Bill, N4ATS…Bill to the rescue! After reviewing Bill’s website I contacted him and he responded very promptly. He instructed me on how to easily remove the radio’s front control panel and send it off to him along with replacement OLEDs I purchased from Yaesu. Bill had the repaired control panel with the bright new OLEDs back to me in a matter of a few days. All I can say is WOW! Bill is a great communicator, is highly skilled and does GREAT WORK! His repair bench is loaded with the latest instruments. I highly recommend him for your repair needs. If you’re looking for someone to do the job quickly, do the job right and communicate status with you in a timely manner Bill’s the guy. THANK YOU Bill!

More than 5 stars!! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I've purchased 2 Yaesu FL-7000 amplifiers from Bill. One for home, and one for my second QTH in NC. He is an expert on this amplifier, and no doubt all radios and amplifiers. His descriptions are 100% accurate, his prices are fair, and his knowledge is indeed expert-plus level. I had absolutely no qualms buying this amp sight unseen, as he is very trustworthy. I've owned the first amplifier for over 8 or so years, and have had no problems. I just picked up the second amp. I have not had to use his repair service, but I am certain his repair services are outstanding!

Great Repair Experience. Ameritron ALS 1306 Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I took my Ameritron ALS 1306 Solid State Amp to Bill. He lives about 2 hours from me so I was able to drive it there and meet him in person. You can tell when you meet someone if they know what they are talking about and unfortunately I have met a few "repair people" who did not, but WOW what a difference when I met Bill.
Not only was he very familiar with my amp but knew from the description of the problem that I had blown out some of the power transistors.
He said it would be about 3 days before I could get it back, so my friends and I went to a nearby diner for lunch before driving home and to my pleasant surprise, while we were eating I got a text from Bill with a photo of the inside of my amp showing the problem, a price quote and saying he could have it done in one hour.
We went to pick it up and were very impressed with his repair facility and the fact that he had parts for most of the common amp repair problems.
He sent me a text after it was finished with photos showing what he had done and the power output of the repaired amp. I have never had such great service from any ham repair before.
It was obvious from talking to him that he had a very wide range of knowledge about the amps on and off the market and the pros and cons of each along with how to repair them.
I wish there were more than 5 stars to rate someone, so I will have to limit my rating to a mere 5 stars.

Repair of Icom 7610 Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Had an issue with my Icom 7610 . The molex connector on the rear was not supplying power to external tuner. A friend suggested i call Bill Grassa . Bill responded immediately and told me to send the radio to him. Since I'm in SW Florida i took the 3 hour drive and dropped the radio off. That nite Bill sent me photo's of the damaged parts. Three days later i was driving to pick up my radio.
I'm sure if the radio went back to Icom they would have just replaced the whole board and not the 3 bad parts.
Thanks again Bill. Five Star + workmanship, and great guy.

Ameritron AL-80BQ Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I hadn't used my amp for quite a while. Turned it on and when I switched from "STBY" to "OPR" it instantly displayed a meter bending SWR without keying the radio! I checked the SWR on my homebrew 5 band quad with my RigExpert analyzer which showed a 1.5, or less, SWR across all bands - humm? Checked all connections, etc. a few times and I didn't find the problem. I checked eham.net for repair reviews and saw that Bill, N4ATS, had over 250 5 star reviews - amazing. But he is in Florida and my QTH is in California. I sent Bill an email and he suggested using Pirate Ship to save some $$ on shipping. Great advice. They ship UPS at a much reduced rate. Off went my amp. Bill got it Friday and called me Saturday to let me know the amp checked fine. Sent me videos of the tests he ran. He shipped it back Monday, I received it yesterday, Friday. I rearranged my operating desk, connected my amp, double checked all my connections, held my breath, ran a test CW transmission on all bands and the SWR was 1.5 or less. I'm a happy ham again. Obviously, a connection was wrong or? I was the problem! First time in over 60 years as a ham hi hi. Bill's response was immediate; phone call, emails, texts and videos. And he saved me $$ by recommending Pirate Ship - thanks Bill. In summary, I most highly recommend Bill for top quality repairs and great personal, friendly service. He goes the extra mile. ICOM PW-1 Amplifier Repairs Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
The eHam.net Rating Scale is Not High Enough for Mr. William (Bill) Grassa.
Excellent should be in the Rating Scale as Number One at the Top for people like Mr. Grassa. I address him as Mr. because he is a High Caliber Person and He Deserves it.

I got in touch with Bill via his email. He answered promptly. Even though it was after 9:00 PM. I wrote him about my problem with my PW-1. As soon as he read my email he answered, "Drop Off When Ready".
Wow!, Wow!, Wow!. That sent endless joy through me since I was going to send my Amp out of state to get it Fixed. The very next day I took my Amp. over to Bill and he just told me "Leave It By My Front Door" and I went back home. Approximately an hour back from Bill's Shop, he Texted me "Working on your Amp", to my surprise. Soon after he sent another text "Will Be Done By 4:00pm." As he worked on the Amp, he sent me text updates and Pictures of the Amp being disassemble, The Bad parts to replace and Prices. Once he was finished with the repairs, he sent me pictures of it working. Excellent! I said. I went to pick up the Amp that same day. SAME DAY SERVICE! Go figure!
Thanks Bill.
I tested my ICOM PW-1 the very next day and it felt like new to me again. I'm a Happy Ham Hamming.

Mr. William (Bill) Grassa Excellence in Workmanship, Service and Honesty.

Bill's Electronics Services is my go to guy for any future electronic repairs on my equipment and will recommend his services to any and all Radio Amateurs.

Another 5 added to the many other 5s Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Sent Bill an Icom R8600 receiver that was in mint condition, but would not turn on. Bill called either the day of, or the day after receiving the receiver. He emailed me within a day saying the receiver was working to specs after his repairing a blown fuse and SMT transistor and an alignment. Great communication, a fair price and fast turnaround...I will do business with Bill again. 73, Jay N4OX

Kenwood TM-742 repair A+++ Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bill is truly a gifted engineer. The TM-742 is a vintage triband VHF/UHF radio which often fails as it ages due to leaking capacitors. Other things can also happen, but the acid from leaking caps causes circuit board damage and failures. Bill was able to repair damages to the circuit board and bring my 742 back to life so the on/off circuit and memory circuits worked!
He service is quick, and he communicates very well with you and I had my radio back promptly.
I couldn't be happier with his service and friendliness.
Thanks Bill!!

Bill Grassa FT-450D repair - Excellent service! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I damaged by new to me FT-450D when changing out one and adding another HUPRF PATV board. Totally on me which I made worse by attempting to repair myself. I lack the skills, experience and equipment for that type of repair.
I sent my radio to Bill based on a recommendation from a user on QRZ and the excellent reviews here.
Radio was received on a Tuesday and shipped back to me on Friday of the same week. Repairs to RF-IF board performed and he correctly installed the HUPRF boards. Great communication during the repair process. Radio arrived back to me well packed just like I sent it to him. Cost was much less than I expected and time to repair was very quick.
Repairs were successful and the radio works as it should. Highly recommend Bill for any repair work on the FT-450D. I am sure he is as capable on any rig he supports.
