Review Summary For : LDG AT-7000
Reviews: 50MSRP: 169
Description:
The AT-7000 is the ideal tuner for your shiny new IC-7000. First, it matches up to 10:1 SWR (3:1 on 6 meters), so just about anything you can feed with coax is good to go.

The AT-7000 is just 6.5" long, 6.5" deep and 1.5" tall. It weighs only 1.5 pounds, and gets its DC power directly from the radio; no separate power supply needed. The AT-7000 works with any Icom radio that supports AH-3 or AH-4 Icom antennas. This currently includes the IC-7000, IC-706MkIIG, IC-703Plus, IC-718, IC-746 and IC-756ProIII.

Okay for what it is. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
If you have antenna already tuned close to resonance for a certain band, this tuner is fine to keep SWR down. Short point for me is it does not work over all as well as AH-4. I took mine back for a refund.

My AH-4 will tune my rain gutter (for real!) with surprisingly decent results. And, with the Better RF adapter AH-4 works well with my FT897D.

Bought the LDG for my MKIIG because it was much smaller than AH-4 and installs next to the radio. After a week of use I took it back and got the AH-4.

Thanks but no thanks on the LDG. Not a dud, but much better tuners out there. Sorry LDG.

Just A Couple of Points Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After installing my IC-7000 in my car, realizing it wasn't getting as much use as expected and missing its very pretty control panel, I decided to turn it into my portable rig and thus, purchased the AT-7000 to tune my DK9SQ portable loop. Like most people say, "it just works". So far it's matched everything I've asked it to including my high-Q 80 meter vertical on the upper end of the band where SWR is off the scale. That's pretty good!

Only one minor point that I have not seen mentioned elsewhere. I and a few local hams have experienced difficulty disconnecting the tuner control cable from the back of the radio (this has more to do with Icom's choice of connector). Question is/was how to squeeze the outer end of the plug to get it past the little bumps in the plastic that it snaps into. I have found that by carefully sliding a small jeweler's screwdriver between the two connector halves and gently wiggling it, the two halves release and may then be disconnected. I'd be interested in hearing how others disconnect their AT-7000 (or other Icom compatible) tuner cables from the back of the radio?

One final point, LDG really writes a fine manual. It is obvious that they want their customers to be happy with their products. Kudos!

Very Good! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Not much to say, It works perfect and FAST. Comes with needed Cables. And powers from rig. I think it's priced right. What more can I say.

Plug in and forget Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Got it, plugged into an Icom 718, told 718 to use it. Never know it's there. What more could you ask? Buy again? Yes.

Works Great Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I just received my AT-7000 back from LDG. I sent it to them for repair because the tuner just wasn't working correctly. Now it is working as I hoped it would when I purchased it.

My antennas are a 4BTV vertical and a Hypower 40/20 meter shortened dipole. Before the repair, even on the frequencies where my antennas were resonant, the tuner would not tune. I purchased the tuner so I could work all frequencies from 40 to 10. Now I can. I am having excellent results and I highly recommend this tuner to other IC 7000 owners as well as owners of other Icom rigs set up for this tuner.

I was probably way to upset when I gave this tuner a "0" in my earlier review. If I could I would cancel that review, especially since LDG has been excellent in their communications with me. I also own an LDG 100pro which has always worked well for me. I use that tuner with my Ten Tec Jupiter.

I am once again, a happy camper. 73s from S. I. "Mike" K. K2TPZ

I just got my tuner back from LDG service. A relay blew. The unit came back in ten days. Great turn-a-round time.

I purchased the tuner at the Dayton Hamvention back in May 2006. Using four different antennas, I have never been able to get a decent match with this tuner. Finally, it stopped working, I sent it back for repair (per above) and still isn't working properly.

Using two manual tuners from MFJ and an LDG AT 100 tuner, with my IC 7000 and the same antennas, I have been able to achieve perfect matches. So the problem isn't my rig or the antennas. At this point I am very frustrated and I've decided to put the AT 7000 back in the box and sell it for parts at Dayton. I can't recommend this tuner to anyone although every other LDG tuner has worked flawlessly for me.

The tech at LDG said in his return message that he checked it out, so it must be up to specs, including the latest firmware. I don't have a clue why this unit is defective. But it is totally defective. I now have my IC 7000 hooked up to my AT 100 and it works perfectly with all my HF antennas.

I'm Satisfied Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
A few months ago I picked up an IC-7000 knowing that I would need an autotuner for portable ops. My first choice was the AT-7000. I own a Z-100 that I use with my 706MKIIG and it has always worked extremely well. So which one?

I decided on the AT-7000 and after three months I can honestly say that it's a 'perfect match' for my new radio. A close friend of mine facing the same choice opted for the Z-100 after reading the reviews.

I use the tuner with my Buddipole antennas for portable operation. I have tried it on other antennas with excellent results.

Nice tuner Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I literally just got mine in the mail today and I decided to do some tuning with it (on the bands that I am allowed) and I suprised that it loaded and tuned every band I went on 80/40/15/10/6 and everytime it tuned it down to just about 1 to 1, this on my slinky dipole hanging here in my apt.

A gteat little autotuner !! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I own two of these tuners, one on the base, and one mobile.

In the mobile I use a 75 meter Hustler and can work the whole band with the tuner. Its great to just push the tune button and in seconds, be ready to talk on a tuned antenna. I also use a 17 meter Hustler and can work 17, 15, 12, 10 on this antennas with this tuner with excellent results.

I've read where people have trouble with tuners in autos, but with a good grounding and bonding scheme you can make this great little tuner perform.

On the base I have a Carolina Windom 80, and can work all bands from 80 thru 6 meters without a problem. I get full output and instand tuning with the tune button. It works like it supposed to .

Tunes great Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Using a 706 and Carolina Windom 80 and it tunes everything including MARS frequencies just fine even below the 75M band. Not a lick of trouble, been beating on it for a few weeks now.
