I purchased the LP-100A and I can say that I am very impressed with it's performance and reliability. Yes - I bought it assembled as I just did not have the time to put the kit together.

The emails were quick regarding my purchase and when I could expect the assembled version to ship to me. A follow up email advisesd me of when the unit was shipped. First class!

I love this meter! Yes,, it cost a bit but at the price of todays equipment how can you afford to not have accurate power/swr indicating devices! And, of course this unit does so much more!

Could not make it so easier! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Used for a couple of months now, and this tool is really nice ! Even, If I can not use it with my ICOM 770, because there are no insertion point between the PA and the tuner (only if the tuner is on of course), this tool is a best to have !

Had a couple of questions to asked to Larry (N8LP), and always have a very fast, professional and courteous service!

Excellent. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
There is not much more that I could write about my 1st generation LP-100 that hasn't already been written except for the regret that I forfeit the satisfaction of building it from a kit.

I use this for antenna measurements and tuning and for measuring output from Softrock mini SDR transmitter kits all the way up to my QRO amplifiers during long contests.

Top quality construction, and assembly with no nonsense.

Quick SWR protection, good display response and appearance.

OUTSTANDING WATTMETER, THE BEST THERE IS! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After researching several meters, I was impressed with the additional features of the LP-100A, so I ordered the kit from Larry, N8LP, and went to work. My soldering skills were a bit rusty, but I managed to get through the assembly which which turned out to be an enjoyable experience. WARNING! Don't get ahead of the sequence of Larry's instructions, or you may regret it later on. I ended up de-soldering some delicate componets which didn't help matters at all. But Larry was always available to help me through process. I also sent the wattmeter back and had him calibrate the unit, a worthwhile move.

How do I like the LP-100A? This wattmeter has exceeded all my expectations and far exceeds the competition in features and quality, and the customer service is second to none. The LP-100A is flash-upgradeable for future enhancements and features computer control and Vector Graphing through computer software. This alone is a real bonus. Get one, you won't regret it!

The LP-100A is truly the Rolls-Royce for VSWR analysis & power metering. Great build and above-par customer service, Larry will go out of his way to back this product!

I enjoyed building the LP-100A. The instructions were not overly detailed but left no doubt as to what needed to be done.

During construction, electrical checks performed before the several main circuitry sections were tied to power would have localized any shorted power supply problems. None occurred and the meter operated on the first power up.

A Calibration Menu supports a couple of simple calibration steps (for power, resistance, and frequency).

The built-in default settings for all of the more obscure parameters are sufficient for any imagineable amateur activity. (However, the purist can check or set just about any of them by making a few simple test loads and delay lines and doing a little touch up.)

The display allows power and load impedance to be displayed in a variety of formats, with a bar graph. The last measured SWR can be retained on the display during receive. A callsign screen-saver is a nice touch.

Provided PC software will graph antenna parameters, including making Polar Plots.

The only suggestion that I could make for future versions of the LP-100A would be to have a USB port instead of the RS-232, and to allow the unit be powered by same.

I was looking for the best meter some years before,I looked to all possible option, The LP-100 was my choice, having other good meters, I found the Larry's LP-100 meter superior in all respect.
I got more than I pay for it.

Feature Packed Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I needed a high power meter with an alarm circuit to protect Big AL, my new Al-1500 amplifier. Looked at Array Soulution Powermaster and the LP-100a. The LP-100a has more features. Has dual bargraph which is very useful. Also comes with software for plotting SWR, etc and even does the Smith Chart. Very useful and interesting for antenna experimenting.

This class of meter is very expen$ive.However it will protect your even more expensive amp from dumb mistakes. It also will keep you legal as it is very accurate. One of the best accesories I have bought in 48 yrs of hamming. Well designed and highly useful.

This type of meter is something anyone using a linear amplifier should have. Apart from the accuracy and the high VSWR protection features to protect the PA, this meter is very revealing.

The display shows forward and reverse power graphically and in figures. It has a peak hold feature that responds instantly to potentially damaging power spikes, ones that you will not see with a normal meter yet which could see off your PA or at best cause splatter. It allows you to measure your transmit duty cycle and peak to mean signal ratio. It can be programmed to generate an alarm if the VSWR exceeds a threshold and if you route your PTT line through it, it will drop the PTT for you.

There is a computer interface which allows you display the meter remotely - this was one of the reasons I bought it.

I built mine from the kit. I did not enjoy winding the detector coils, but everything else was easy.
