Certified Electronics Saved the Day Time Owned: more than 12 months.
After all the smoke leaked out of my Yaesu FT-101EE, I took it apart and found that the L7 plate choke had melted down. I replaced that part successfully and fired it up (figuratively this time). Unfortunately, I had no idea what else burned out besides the fuse. The BIAS control and/or Ic meter reading didn't work correctly. The finals tubes and driver were getting super hot. The rig needed final amplifier neutralization, but I couldn't get past the first step with the BIAS control. The VFO didn't feel right. The dial would speed up and slow down while turning the dial at an even speed. The meter functions didn't all work correctly.

I sent my rig to Certified Electronics and through their patience and persistence in troubleshooting, they were able to solve each of these problems. The regulator board was replaced, VFO replaced, neutralization capacitor replaced, and finals tubes replaced. There was some alignment to do after that.

I was delighted to open the box, find my well-packed rig, hook it up to my power meter, tuner, and dummy load and found all is well! It's almost as good as new, which is amazing for a glow-in-the-dark tube rig from the 70's!

I recommend Certified Electronics most highly.

Excellent Service, Great Repore Time Owned: more than 12 months.
After checking with everyone locally to find someone to repair my yaesu 101EE, I was eventually led to Carol with Certified Electronics. After discussing the problems, I was given a list of things to buy. After getting the parts, four to five months later, I took my radio to her expecting to leave the radio for 3 or 4 weeks. She fixed it right there while I waited. Gave me some valuable tips to running the rig. Charged me a very reasonable repair price! I will not hesitate to take other radios to her to be repaired when the time comes. She is very knowledgeable. Great experience!!!

Exceptional technical knowledge and customer service A+ Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I personally delivered my well used and physically damaged Yaesu FT-301D to the Certified Electronics shop in early December 2010. I was able to see first hand Carols sincere desire to help and go the extra mile in getting a vintage radio back in service. If she doesnt have the part or cant locate it she will design and fabricate a replacement part if appropriate. Adjustments to the radio to optimize and improve performance are possible due to her extensive experience with this equipment. This shop (and radio supply store) is very clean, well stocked. The diagnostic, parts and assembly service areas are too.
Ive had mechanical and electrical equipment of all types selectively repaired over the years, but the Certified Electronics shop and the care and CRAFT here is second to none Ive seen, this is true excellence.
This should be a first call for repairs, parts and knowing that your radio will receive the best care.
The repaired equipment was double boxed and tightly packaged - the service time and the shipping arrangements were also excellent.

Honest, Technically Proficient, Resonable Price Time Owned: N.A.
I pulled my FT-101 out of the attic after 15 years. It wasn't working very well and had some cosmetic issues. I bought this radio new in 1972 and it was completely original. I sent it to Carol at Certified Electronics with a note to do what was needed including driver and finals. I was pleasantly supprised that a thorough cleaning of the switches and controls and an alignment was all that was needed. The icing on the cake was Carol fixed some rusty spots on the cabinet and the radio not only works as new but it now looks like it did the day I bought it. The service was excellent, fast and reasonably priced. Carol, W4CLM is first class and a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended!

Quality Workmanship & Friendly Service Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I purchased a Yaesu FT 101-ZD from a seller that stated the rig was working fine and ready to go. When I started the rig I found the receiver was working, but the transmitter section of the rig was not. I had been tricked. I had made an investment and did not know what to do,but was advised by another Ham I should send the rig to Carol Maher at Certified Electronics for repair. I followed the advice and I am glad I did. Carol Maher fixed the transmitter section of the 101-ZD and also re-aligned the receiver. The rig now works like it is new off of the shelf. Carol and her staff have great technical skills, and you receive polite responses to questions. On top of that the pricing of the work is reasonable. This made my investment into the rig worthwhile in the end. I have discovered that Certified Electronics is the "goto place" for repairing and aligning Yaesu tube rigs.

CAROL MAKES GOOD THINGS HAPPEN Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Carol has helped me turn an intermittent FT-102 into a sweet transceiver. We are still chasing a phantom in the S-meter, but that really illustrates what a fine service person she is; when confronted with a tough problem, she perseveres. I have seen her tested every which way, and she comes out on top. You know, I am impressed with Josh, too- I like doing business with Certified. They communicate, they are fair, and they get results.I think Carol deserves a medal....73 de K4GLM

Tricky FT-102 repair Time Owned: more than 12 months.
When an FT-102 I was working on developed an odd fault, I sent it to W4CLM to get it fixed quickly.

I'm low on time and don't even have a scope anymore, so I decided that paying a pro is often the most comfortable way from Point A to Point B--especially when trying to fix an FT-102 with only a Fluke DMM and a frequency counter!

I worked on a couple of 102s when I had a good bench set up and I know that they can be real tricky to dig around in.

Alas, these classic hybrid-era radios are getting old and rather fragile. The problem turned out to be tiny fractures in the traces around a coax connector on the RF board--surely a job to isolate and repair! FT-102 owners will know what I mean. Glad I didn't even try it!

Communication and attitude was top notch. I felt that Carol took a genuine interest in the radio and kept me informed every step of the way. Turnaround in my case was super-fast but that depends on workload and maybe I got lucky for once.

Overall, an excellent and highly professional job getting my radio back into action.

Very Satisfied Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I E-Mailed Carol about a repair I needed, he got back to me quickly and said he was a little backed up.I mailed the rig anyway, and when he recieved it, he informed me he got it. Said it would be a little wait as he was very busy.I told him no problem on the wait.He kept me informred as to the status. The rig was a mess when I sent it to him. When it came back, it was almost as new, and for a 30 year old rig thats going some. His price was fair and he shipped it back very well packaged.
I would recomend him to anyone needing a rig repaired

Top Quality Workmanship! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Took my old Drake SPR-4 Communications receiver to Carol for a little TLC. I did not have to wait long, she silver soldered some of the flaky circuit board contacts and did a complete re alignment. It now works as it should! Great service!

Thanks,
