Within the last several months I started putting together a station at my office building. As things progressed, I could tell that I needed to bring in a far more experienced hand to advise me on antenna selection and to assist with the final assembly and tune-up of the tower, antenna and related equipment and to keep the project on schedule. I had several recommendations for who to bring into the project and I went with John Crovelli. I couldn't have done any better. I consulted with John throughout the project and he traveled to Austin to do the final hands-on work.
In little over an honest day he and K5TR assembled 2 antennas and had everything up and running. We did encounter some technical challenges with the location and John and George (K5TR) calmly worked through all of them. I'd highly recommend John to anyone tackling a tower project. Also thanks to John, I met K5TR who was an extremely valuable member of the team. |

Great Job |
Time Owned: 0 to 3 months. |
John Crovelli came, saw, climbed and conquered. He really knows his business. Swapped out a problem rotor with replacement. Lubricated cables and repaired rotor cable problem. His charge was very reasonable. Strongly recommend W2GD for your tower and antenna work. You stay on the ground and leave the climbing to John.
This is the first time we have used John's services. We were extremely pleased with the results. |

great job on my towers |
Time Owned: more than 12 months. |
John has done good work for me both at V26B and here at home. Today we did some towertop work, minor antenna repairs, and guy wire inspections. I will be using him in the future again soon to replace some aging guys on my towers. |

Great Work in the Caribbean! |
Time Owned: N.A. |
We hired W2GD to support a trip to Antigua to perform antenna maintenance and refurbishment at V26B. In the period of six days he supported installation of two new 15m mono-banders, complete rebuild of two Cushcraft two element 40m beams, and replacement of feed lines going to the 160m inverted vee, 20m stack and 6m YAGI. He also provided valuable consultation services in repairing a guy anchor on the 20m that was damaged by vandals. He was a pleasure to work with and all activities were completed with no damage or injuries.

I've used W2GD's services twice and I 100% pleased. He is reliable and thorough. We worked through a particularly difficult issue on one of my KT36XA's and in the end, he was able to find and correct the issue in one day. I highly recommend him. |

Decommissioned a big EME array |
Time Owned: more than 12 months. |
John Crovelli (W2GD) has responded to my calls for tower help more than once, and results have always been excellent. Most recently he and Bill, W2RQ, carefully removed from my HDX-572 tower an array of four 2MXP28 dual-polarization Yagis used primarily for 144 MHz EME. A big job, and all was done with attention to safety -- safety to both people and the retired antennas. I'm a happy camper. |

Removed 62 foot Rohn 25 tower |
Time Owned: more than 12 months. |
John did an excellent job removing my 62 foot Rohn 25 tower with the associated beam antennas. He did this without damage to the antennas. The price was fair for the removal and appreciated. |

excellent service |
Time Owned: more than 12 months. |
I just ended a 45 minute conversation with John and for the second time in 6 years, John was once again extremely helpful and very cordial.
I had many questions ranging from tower sizing for antennas to guy wire sizes and even antenna arrays and as usual, John was very helpful and took the time to answer my questions in a very professional manner.
John I appreciate your time and very much respect your opinion. Thanks again and I would highly recommend you to anyone.
Sincerely,
Don

I just got off the phone with John asking him questions about a possible tower system that I was going to install. John was very helpful and very knowledgeable in reference to my questions. Not only did he lend his personal expertise but also referred me to other individuals in this field. Thank you John, it was certainly my pleasure talking to you. |

great AGAIN !!! |
Time Owned: 3 to 6 months. |
New rotor broke under warranty. Only about 5 months old. John came before warranty ran out, brought refurbished one, took down broken one, put up refurbished one, and I sent it in for repair. No second visit for John due to his great idea. Saved money, time and down time. Thanks again John. Would definitely use john again as long as he continues working. Good, reasonable and safe. T2X rotor replaced one that was 37 yo.

John once again saved the day for me. I needed a new T2x rotor installed, along with new mast and thrust bearing. He recommended I do those also. He was absolutely correct. He and Bill, w2rq, came on time and did the job in several hours. Very professional, neat, and reasonable. I would definitely use John again for anything related to my tower and yagis. The tower and beam and rotor are 37 years old, and the rotor went bad..This new rotor was just placed and everything running great !!

John replaced my old coax and rotor cable for me.Tower is Rohn 25, about 70 ft and has been up over thirty years. Base was rusted on on side, so John told me how to strengthen it by having concrete built up about 24 inches, and it worked out great.John came out and replaced cables with some trouble, but he figured it out and was very sucessful.I would and will use him for any tower or antenna work in future. Fair price and good work. |

Great Job As Always! |
Time Owned: 0 to 3 months. |
I had a lightning hit on my tower behind the house in early August and I immediately contacted John (I have used his service before, always with excellent results). John walked me through making a list of the antennas and other items that were damaged in the strike. In 24 hours, he had an estimate ready for sending off to my insurance company!
Very shortly after that, he was at my QTH, removing the damaged equipment in preparation for the installation of new equipment, when I had it ready. Within a week of my getting the new antenna, rotator, etc. ready, John was here installing the new equipment! And, when the SWR wasn't what I was expecting, he was able to tune the antenna on the spot. His experience really paid off!
If you need antenna and/or tower installation or repair, contact John. You won't be sorry! He does excellent work, with great attention to details, and his rates are reasonable.

I've used John for all my tower work for quite a few years.
Today, I learned that I can add diagnostic ability to his list of skills. We had John over here today for repairs to a Bencher Skyhawk installation, where we noticed SWR issues (looked like something breaking down with power -- at almost 1500 watts on RTTY). I was sure it was the balun breaking down and was all set to replace it. Before we replaced anything, John indicated we should test everything first (he carries a small 50-ohm dummy load to test things at the top of the tower, as well as an antenna analyzer). Well, sure enough, it wasn't the balun at all! The problem was the three-year-old coax that was running up the tower! I never expected that!
Excellent work at reasonable rates -- you can't go wrong!

Great job, great guys!! |
Time Owned: 0 to 3 months. |
I found John and Bill delightful down to earth folks and a pleasure to work with. The work was done (installing a 50 foot tower with Force 12 beam, VHF/UHF antenna and OCF dipole offset from tower) very professionally, very safely and very timely. Almost as important as the work John did on site, was his meticulous help to me with making sure I purchased the correct materials. Even with that, the Rohn tower did not fit together properly and John had to become an instant mechanical engineer. And then Force 12 'forgot' to put the balun in the box even though the shipping label said it was in there, so John improvised with an instant home made balun. Awesome work, Awesome service, Awesome guys!! |
