Excellent work Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
John worked in windy 35 degree weather on my roof replacing a dead rotor with a new rotor and control wire. He admits not being fond of roof work, but he climbed the chimney and mast supports with ease and single handedly lifted and reset my 2 element beam into the rotor clamps. He also repaired a broken connector on my 40 meter dipole. The work took exactly the amount of time he predicted and his charges are very fair. I highly recommend him and appreciate his rapid response to e-mails.

John has performed extensive tower, rotor and antenna work for me. His workmanship is excellent. He does consult on towers and antennas as to type, placement, cost etc. You will be pleased with his work.

Once Again...Excellent Work Time Owned: N.A.
John was at my place yesterday to help finish installing the last two yagis on my 140 foot tower.

As is always the case at my QTH, it was difficult install, made even more difficult by sub-30 degree F temperatures.

To make a long story short, all my yagis are now up, and the work that was done was outstanding.

I intend to use John again in the future when I have work to do with antennas and my tower.

Excellent work !! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Well, this review is a year late but better late than never! I had just moved into my new house which is a small ranch home on 2 acres. I purposely searched for a house with property so I could put up a tower with HF beams on top. I called John, explained what I wanted to do and he made some recommendations. At first, I wanted a fold over crank-up tower, but the cost would have put me over budget. So he recommended the old reliable Rohn 25G tower. He said sections can be found reasonably cheap. So he sent an email out to his DX group and within a couple of days, had a few replies with folks looking to unload tower sections. I originally wanted a Steppir 4 element antenna (which I may still get one day!) but one of the replies he received from the email he sent out, had someone looking to get rid of their entire tower and antenna system. I called the person (Pete - NO2R) and ended up getting all the tower sections and hardware I needed PLUS I ended up purchasing his Force 12 C31XR triband yagi AND his 2 element 40 meter Cushcraft yagi, and Yaesu 1000 rotor at a VERY good price. I only purchased enough sections for a 50 ft tower as that's the highest I can go without getting a variance. At any rate, John made a couple of visits to my house to spec out the land and give recommendations as to where to put the tower. I followed his advice and I laid the concrete base in early October to give a month for it to set before scheduling the actual install date. I then setup a date in early November of '06 to do the actual install. Both of our schedules were very tight so I ended up leaving everything out for John one weekday and left for work while he came to do the tower install. The first day, he came out and had the 50ft Rohn tower up and guyed and the next day, he came out, assembled the antennas that had be broken down for transport, and installed them on top the tower. Again, when I came home from work, the entire tower with antennas were up and ready to go. Here I am just over a year later, and I have one STURDY, ROCK SOLID 50ft Rohn tower with a Force 12 C31XR at 50', a 10 element 2 meter yagi at about 55', and a 2 element 40 meter yagi at 62'. There have been a couple of times where the winds have kicked up pretty good which didn't phase the tower or antennas!! John was easy to work with and EVERY time I placed a call to him, he RESPONDED very QUICKLY!! John is VERY knowlegdable with towers AND antennas. I would highly recommend John as he does AWESOME, QUALITY work!! You won't go wrong!

Great Work Time Owned: N.A.
I have been away from Ham Radio for over fifteen years. I needed to have my antenna and coax fixed and John did a great job. He went over everything to make sure I would be on the air without any problems. I am looking forward to using him again to put up a new tower and additional antennas.

Thanks John

Excellent Workmanship--Painting and SteppIr installation Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Over the past few months I asked John to make an emergency visit to replace some guys damaged by falling trees during an ice storm, Paint my 68' Rohn Foldover, remove a TH6DXX/HamIV that's been on the tower since 1978 and also damaged during the storm, Remove a 6 element 6M Hygain antenna beam and install a new Ham IV. All this in preparation for the installation of a 4 element SteppIR with the 30/40 element. The installation of the SteppIR was completed yesterday 8/14. All the work, the painting, the disassembly, and the installing of the SteppIR was completed down to the last bolt and nut in a flawless, very professional manner, John was always on time, (there when he said he would be there), and had all the work planned out in advance. He was a pleasure to work with. I wouldn't hesitate to call him in the future for any tower or antenna work I might need. I didn't know John previously but I now consider him a friend.

antenna replacement Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
There was no doubt that I chose John, W2GD, to perform my antenna work. I know his work and he comes highly recommended. John assisted me with removing my Mosley TA-53M; rebuilding and installing the upgrade to a TA-54XL.
Prior to the installation, all telephone calls and emails were promptly responded to; helpful advice was offered; a working date was jointly agreed upon.
Once at my QTH, work progressed smoothly. Watching John work was a pleasant experience. He is very professional and certainly knows his way around antenna installations.
If I could give a rating of greater than 5, I would do so.
I highly recommend John for anyone who is in need of antenna/tower work. You just can't beat his expertise.

John was timely, professional and personable. Replaced a TX2 rotor with an M2 2800. He is also reasonably priced. I will certainly use him again.

Simply outstanding service! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
John (W2GD) and his assistant Bill (W2RQ) recently took down my guyed 50 ft Rohn 25G tower. The tower had a WARC beam on top of 20 ft of a heavy chrome-moly steel mast. To schedule the work I gave John a list of days that worked for me. The weather on the day we picked was poor (rain) and we agreed on the next day. This was handled promptly with an e-mail and a phone call. John and Bill arrived as scheduled and began laying out the rope, tools, etc. It was very evident that they had worked together on many jobs...a well oiled machine. There were no major issues except getting the heavy mast down. That was done with the "special tool" John has...very effective. After 6 hours the tower was down, the area cleaned and the hardware stored in the garage.

Although John's "been there, done that, got the T-shirt" level of experience made this project pretty mundane, he and Bill completed the work safely and with attention to detail. His billing rate is competitive and I feel that I received good value for my money. Overall it was a very positive experience. It was also fun to interact with the two of them and share DX stories. If I'm in the market again for this type of service, I certainly know I'll call John.

John completed a 30 foot Rohn 25 and Force 12 C3SS install for me. He knows how to get the job done and is very attentive to the details. Looking forward to a great contest season.
