This really is a classic! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I agree with the previous reviewer who said this is a fun radio. In my opinion, it's the best of the DX-150/DX-160 series of receivers. My DX-150B is able to pick up weak stations on 10 meters and the CB band that other (and supposedly superior) radios can't. Stability and audio quality are not quite as good as they are on the DX-150A, but this receiver seems to be a bit more sensitive and selective. The power supply also seems to be of a better design. You don't get nearly as much hum listening with headphones as you did with the 150 and 150A. For those who think of the DX-150B as a DX-160 without the longwave band, you're wrong. The audio quality is much better on the 150B. It's also much more stable than the 160. For an inexpensive single-conversion superhet with slide-rule tuning, you really can't do better than this. If you're not than hung up on always knowing the exact frequency to which you're tuned, I highly recommend one of these. Oh, and one more thing: they're easy to align and maintain.

The "most fun" radio that I ever had! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Got this Realistic shortwave receiver for Christmas in the early 70s. What a gift. Still have it and treasure it greatly. I've had every conceivable SW radio from Yaesu, Kenwood, Icom, Realistic and Drake. While most of these radios were far superior in most ways, I have had the most fun over the years with my old DX-150B. There are a plethora of these things on e-Bay in it's various incarnations (150A, B, 160, et.al.). If you have a hundred or so bucks to blow and want a uniquely fun radio from a bygone era, then get one and put it into daily use in your shortwave radio shack!!!

Pretty nice radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
You wouldn't expect much from a radio with a mostly cardboard back. But you would be wrong. This is a nice radio. It could be used in the ham bands today. I paid $35.00 dollars for my nice example including the speaker. Sensitivity is excellent, audio is excellent, selectivity is a hair better than my Dx440 with the narrow filter switched in. Very little drift after a 10 minute warmup.
