Review Summary For : DX Engineering CC-8 Control Console
Reviews: 3MSRP: 220 USD
Description:
The CC-8 Control Console is an 8-position controller for the RR8 series of remote antenna switches. It can also be used with the DX Engineering RFS-2 Receive Four Square system, the FVC-1 Feepoint Voltage Coupler or any other switch or product that requires a standard 1-of-8 or 3-bit BCD format for control. The attractive housing is powder-coated and features an ON/OFF switch, ergonomic selector knob and eight front panel LED's, with adjustable brightness, to indicate switch position.

The control cable connects to an external plug which allows the control cable to be easily unplugged from the CC-8 if the control position needs to be rearranged. Shielded CAT-5 type cable can be used for the control cable. (8 conductor with ground)

The internal AC power supply is jumper selectable for 110-130 or 220-260 Vac input. Output control voltage is jumper selectable for 12 or 24 Vdc
Product is in production

I use this with DX Engineering's remote switch, purchased as a package it will set you back $580 or so. Having used the Ameritron RCS-4 I can not believe the difference, 10x better! The difference in signals is unreal. I had no idea or I would have purchased this year's ago.

I use this with the DX Engineering 8 position remote switch.

Very well built and designed. I also use another brand of remote switch that is even more expensive and is not as well built as the DX Engineering unit. Not inexpensive but very much worth the money.

Worth Every Penny! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I haven't owned the CC-Control Console but a week but I can attest to the quality of it's constructon. DX Engineering knows hams and their needs. First of all, being able to control the brightness of the LEDs on the front of the console was very nice. The antenna selection knob is snug and well placed on the console front. The control cable is easily wired from behind via individual screws. I used a run of CAT5 STP to control the DXE-RR8-HP antenna switch at the tower base. I purchased these as a package deal. The rig is self contained for power source. No cheesey 12 volt cable or wall wart to plug into the back of the unit. The CC-8 has a 110v cord.

Instructions are both downloadable and come with the unit as a hard copy; easy to read. In the past I've called DX Engineering for some "advice" on a balun and found them more than will to lend a friendly word or two to help you make the right decisions. This is a quality company that turns out quality products for hams.

In conclusion, these units are as solid as a brick. I replaced an Ameritron control pannel and switch due to poor port isolation and other issues that aren't warrented for discussion here. I had to pay a little more but you get what you pay for with DX Engineering.
