Description:
This 100-minute DVD is a very "visual" demonstration of VSWR - how it affects your signal and what you can do about it. Bill Hays made this presentation to the SouthEastern Repeater Association BOD meeting, and it was captured by Gary Pearce KN4AQ of ARVN: Amateur Radio//Video News.

Outstanding and a bargain Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bill Hays has the only hands on demonstration showing standing in a simple way. Most of his indicators are incandescent lamps. What he shows is explained in detail in Tierman’s “Radio Engineering” later editions except this brings theory home in a way one can easily understand.
Included as indicators using lamps are two coupled transmission line reflectometers, a voltage indicator, and current indicator. Included is a field antenna using a lamp.
This demonstration shows that an antenna much shorter than electrical resonance as a half wave dipole can radiate nearly as well as a full half wavelength antenna when loaded for a cognate match.
The DVD and handout available on the net make a good club program that will have some of the folks who have studied the textbooks saying that they tried to explain this to someone but this better because seeing is believing.
