Doing a great job ! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Purchased this tuner new at a local hamfest to use with a random wire, end-fed antenna I thought I'd play around with. Tunes it flat. Smooth controls and clean construction. The big meter is a really nice feature. Using the 949E with the random wire and QRP has produced great reports and many contacts. Does its job and does it very good. My other tuner, a MFJ 969, is connected to my full power rig and also is doing a great job. No complaints here.

Lot Of Bang for The Buck! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bought my 949E at a small hamfest 3 years ago. I wanted to upgrade to something that would handle about 200 watts. It has tuned just about everything I connect to it without a flaw. Now for the kicker. I just purchased an Ameritron AL-811 amp a few weeks ago. I looked on Ebay for a bigger tuner, but could not wait. I ran the amp pretty cool at the VERY END of the scale loading at 300 watts. Went ahead with a tuned load and cranked her up to about 400 watts. What a trooper!
I am still looking for a full legal limit tuner and refuse to buy the MFJ junk roller inductor tuners, but this little gem has out performed all ratings and expectations. If you need a tuner that will "perform as specified" this is the baby.
No arc , nor spark. GREAT TUNER !!!
