fix the display Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have owned a 241 for about 4 years. Overall it is simple to operate & many things can be figured out easily without the manual. One drawback is only having 20 memory channels. The major problem with the 241 is the display. Almost every time it is turned on the display is unreadable with garbage. This is fixed usually by turning the memory channel knob and/or pressing against the display and/or turning off/on. My Dad also owns a 241 & has the same problem. If you need a simple to use 2m only rig and can deal with the annoying display pick one up...but dont spend too much.

Has Display problems Time Owned: unknown months.
I bought a TM 241 new about 4 years ago. It has given me only one problem...occasionally, the display goes bananas. The radio still works, but the display flashes all kinds of random data. I have heard of others having this problem as well. I'm sure I could send it back for a fix, but the cost would probably end up being at least half of what a new one costs. I remedy the problem by turning the rig off, then on again. It behaves fine after that. The 241 comes with only 20 memories...a limitation that some would find disappointing. But all in all, if you can find one that has had the display problem fixed, I'd recommend it if the price were right.
