Reviews: 161MSRP: 39.50
Description:
Modification to the Icom HM-151 hand microphone that comes with the Icom IC-7000. This mod fixes the poor FM audio that this microphone and radio combination has from the factory. The modification replaces the mic element and a capacitor, adds a shaped acoustic foam shell, widens the mic opening, adds a wind screen (pop filter) and a 1oz weight to the microphone shell.

a must have!! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I wont repeat what most others have said, i have a little deeper voice so i figured it couldn't hurt to have the mod done. when i got it back less than a week later everyone that i chatted with on a regular basis previously, thought i had put on a new mic. I'm told it is louder, clearer not the slightly muffeled low sound of the stock mic.

2nd Verse, Same as the First! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Bob mounts the mic element that should have been used in this microphone and he mounts it the way it should have been mounted.

The conversion takes a mic that is a useless piece of trash and converts it into an instrument worthy of being used with an otherwise superb radio. I have no idea what Icom was thinking when they designed the HM-151, but thank goodness for Bob's work.

This is my second upgrade and both have been perfect - super fast service, response, communication; but above all a modification that fixes a very serious manufacturing flaw.

Thanks Bob.

Great result...good service Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The turnaround was very quick and the price was very reasonable. I immediately started getting better audio reports. One report placed it just slightly below my Heil 781 mic which cost a whole lot more especially when you consider that the Heil requires an equalizer or preamp to work with the 7000. I was very saticfied. Bob answered inquiries promptly and let me know right away when he received and was re-sending the mic. All customer service should be this good.

What a difference! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Fast delivery. Ordered the kit on a Friday and had the kit in Sweden the following Wednesday.

I followed Bob's superb CD instructions and now my HM-151 sounds really nice and the Mic gain could be kept as low as Bob had tested out.

Thanks Bob!

The mod works just as advertised. Great sound, great feel. Get the extra weight; it's just right. One day turnaround, email progress reports, fast shipping; I couldn't be happier. If you have an IC-7000, don't hesitate: send Bob your mic today. www.7000mic.com

Great Mod Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I ordered the kit from Bob, arrived a few days later, well packaged.
After viewing the well put together video instructions, installed the kit in about 1/2 hour. Made all the difference in the world.
With the mic gain set to 15 - 20 %, it will drive the radio to full output, with great audio reports.
Well done Bob...

Great Mod Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
All i can say is this is the best mod that SHOULD be done to your IC-7000. When i first recieved my ICOM i got terrible audio reports of me sounding like i was talking through a tin can...No matter what i did it didnt work. Then i saw Roberst(Ab5N mod) and i figured id give it a try as it was cheaper than having to buy a Hiel Mic. Robert was great and kept in contact with me all the way. The day he recieved it ...He modded it and then sent it right back out to me. Sent it on a Tuesday got it back on a Saturday.....GREAT SERVICE...GREAT MOD....Audio reports now are FANTASTIC......Like i said this is a MUST mod.....Thanks Robert

Perfect In Every Way! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have had experience with 2 of Bob's (AB5N) IC-7000 mic upgrades, first with a friend's earlier serial number IC-7000, and most recently with my own more recently purchased IC-7000. On the original IC-7000, the difference after the mod was astounding - the difference between having enough perceived deviation and audio on 2m FM and not. My later issue IC-7000 did not exhibit as great an issue with the mic output, but after using it on the air and still getting reports of lighter audio than others on frequency, I sent it off to Bob. Of course, the communication, workmanship, attention to detail, and turn-around time for Bob's work are outstanding, as has been reported by virtually every other reviewer. The end result was a more subtle improvement than with the earlier issue mic, but still very noticeable. All this for just a few dollars or so over $40, after shipping and insurance is added to the very reasonable price of $35. I also opted for the optional added weight - it makes the feel of the mic much nicer IMHO. If you have an IC-7000, this mod is simply a no-brainer. You won't find a better vendor out there, and you'll love the professional result and quick turn around. Thanks alot Bob - top notch work!
