Not Good.. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bought this scanner last year. The receive is very poor, my Baofeng UV-5R hears a lot more and is much much clearer. This BC72XLT is the NASCAR version with the close call facility which im afraid is nay on useless, even with a Wilson high gain whip the scanner struggles to lock on to a random frequency at 100 yards!
As i live quite close to my local air feild i was hoping to use the scanner for some airband SWL but this unit is a dead loss...
I couldn't recommend one..

cheap and solid Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Very cheap and solid scanner. I am using it in the car to monitor the HAM-repeaters and simplex frequencies in the area. Its very solid built, I dropped it to often I stopped counting - not a single problem so far! The close call option is very useable too.

Very Good for the Price Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Uniden UBC72xlt is a compact unit similar to the UBC92xlt but cut down with the 200 Channels and the 800MHz part of the band deleted and only 100 channels in memory. As a Ham I use it for scanning the 29 MHz FM part of the 10m band. The 53MHz FM part of the 6m band and 2m and 70cm amateur bands. It works well on receive of AO-51 on 435.300MHz . I also monitor the Police, Fire, Ambulance, Power Utilities, Aircraft and our AM CB on 26 MHz and on UHF.

For, Small, Cheap, I brought mine second hand for $116 NZL ( New Zealand Dollar)Good Receiver, Charges the batteries while listening. Has BNC antenna plug. Very easy to program and use. Covers 25-88, 108-174, 406-512, Bands 10 Programmable Search Ranges which is ALL the main Radio Telephone bands used in Australia and New Zealand. Close search works very well. A lot easier to use than the Icom R5,R3 radios

Against,Tough on batteries, A 2500 Milliamp Hour NI-MH batteries last 6 to 10 hours. Perhaps it needs 200 channels and a computer interface for installing the Frequency list would be nice.

All the Best from Murray ZL3MH
