Great Radio with lots of features Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
After my ICOM 756 Pro3 died, I found this radio for sale on the internet for a reasonable price. I found that a couple of my friends also had one of these and were quite happy with them so I bit the bullet bought it. Man is this thing a beast! Full cabinet size enclosure and heavy! Has internal power supply and 200 watts out on all bands (160-6M). Also has built in computer server which alsos the radio to be remote controlled over the internet using ICOM software package or RCForbs REMOTE Hams. Both work good altho setting up the ICOM Software has it's own problems. Would I buy another? You bet! Needs a lot of shelf space and strong table. It weighs over 60 lbs. Very happy with the radio.

Everything I had heard & read. It's an Amazing Transceiver. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Well it hurt me very much to sell my ICOM 7600 & buy the ICOM 7700 since I purchased the 7600 New & it never gave me any issues of any type. I thought it was unbeatable in every way. Well I was Wrong. I have had the 7700 for just over a month & it has blown me away on both transmit & receive. I use it with the ICOM PW-1 & if I'm on most of the HF Bands I'm using the Mosley TA-53M & on 6 meters I'm using the M2 6M5X & if I hear them I work them & I can hear signals when the noise level is Zero & work them with ease. I only purchased it because one of my Best Friends (Ted-W4YJC) became a SK & it was his main radio. I would rather he still be here using it but he knows that I will take very good care of it while I'm still here. It's a True Beast on the desk & on the air but even with the combined (90) buttons & knobs it's still Very Simple to operate. I'd still love to one day own an ICOM 7800 or 7851 but if I don't I'm very very Pleased with the 7700.I'm truly Blessed having the 7700 & 9100 on my desk. {:>)

Great rig! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I bought my first one and set it side by side my IC 7800. Could not tell any difference. Basically it's the same rig, just without the second RX. I liked it so much, I found another used one and purchased it and sold the 7800. With this pair of 7700's I like to contest SO2R and they work flawlessly. Sensitive RX's and great noise blanker that is adjustable. My neighbor's electric horse fence noise is taken out without distortion. I also like the adjustable AGC control, which is very nice. Big and heavy, these have all the main controls on the front for easy reach, without digging into a menu. The 200 watts gets through most DX pile ups without kicking on an amplifier, and running 75 watts out on FT8 is nice. I had a pair of Yaesu FTDX101MP's that were killed in a lightning strike. Instead of replacing them, I find I like these just as much. Classic Icom and quite happy with them, even with much newer rigs on the market.

Truly excellent radio Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have owned this awesome radio for 15 years, only last year a small problem, quickly solved by my service center.
For the rest everything ok, fantastic receiver, transmitter ok, I use the radio in ssb, cw, digital.
I do a lot of contests, never a problem, very reliable operation.
In 15 years of use there may be a small problem in the tx, immediately solved in assistance.
I highly recommend the radio to anyone interested.

Good not great Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I had many Icoms in my shack, the 756 Pro III, IC 765, IC 7600, and now the 7700. They were all good but not great except the IC 765. The 765 is the keeper and I have had it for over 15 yrs. I compare every receiver I own to it and found that the 7700 comes up short. The 765 is quiet, easily adjusted for any noise or interference on the band, and works EVERY time with minimal adjustment. HAVE A 2.4 khZ filter for SSB and a 500 cycle filter for CW and except for a little more versatility on the 7700, it can't be beat. The 7700 is noisier and requires a lot more input from me to adjust out the noise or interference and still can't match the performance of the old 765. The noise blanker on the 7700 is marginal at best. The twin band pass tuning works well like all recent Icoms. The 7700 features are superb with 200w available and built-in RTTY decoding and PSK 31, waterfall display and mouse click fqy change. I am an avid DXer and listen for weak signals, and the 765 receiver wins every time. I can easily A/B both receivers with the flip of a switch, and anyone listening with me agrees with my assessment that the 765 has a better S/N ratio. I bought my 7700 used and within a couple of months had to send it in for service as the front end blew out for unknown reasons. Works fine now after an expensive repair.

Amazing Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Amazing rig on all counts. Set the stage for the IC7800 series. Great audio. Not deep complex menus.

Only big problems Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Nice radio while it works. The truth is that this radio really doesn't like working, they prefer service. The tuning knob, output amplifier, and power supply broke in turn. It looked like it was made in China.
I do not recommend.

Best Transceiver Ever Used Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had the IC-7700 for 3 years. Chasing DX is my primary interest. I have operated many transceivers over my 49 years amateur radio licence experience, and this radio has been the best.

The IC-7700 has a total luxury feel and quality build. The receiver is excellent. The filters and noise reduction is to die for. IN CW or SSB you can pull in the weakest stations. It works equally well in both modes. This radio will be a keeper.

Great Rig Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
In the past I owned TS-850, then Ft-1000MP, then Ft-2000 and lastly FTdx5000MP. Two months ago I bought a beautiful ICOM IC-7700, used but checked and revised completely by the retailer and with a one-year warranty.
I had never used ICF HF devices but I have to say that there are no comparisons. Excellent receiver, excellent sensitivity and selectivity, NB and NR extremely effective, much more than the other devices I had, even the FTd5000MP which is still an excellent radio. Extremely intuitive in use and settings. Excellent sound from the internal speaker, excellent control of headphones even at high impedance.
Truly a great radio

Great So For Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have had the 7700 but about a month and a half, but have I have enjoyed the big rig. I had an IC-7600 and I had trouble seeing the screen and adjustments on the face. So I sold it and bought an IC 7700 from a one owner for $2800 shipped. He also sent the invoice and warranty repair slip. In talking with about problems, he told me he bought it HRO in 2009 and had to send it to replace the finals under warranty and had not had any trouble with sense.
He ran it a max 200w with no problems.
So I tuck a chance. Now, with the use of the monitor I can see the screen very well and due to the size see most of the controls.
To sum up , very nice receiver with plenty of noise reduction.
Great transmit audio too.
I have used TT Orion, FTDX 3000, FT 2000, and the IC 7600. Better than them all!
