So far Excellent ! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Very new to this radio. Bought it yesterday in a hamfair. Probably the very first ones delivered to Europe, so version FTM-10E.

Wonderful impression. Good packing, full of stuff to play with in the box and most important nice looking and faultless operation.

I have been able to read the manual from A to Z and was even more surprised to see the new features. Really a different mobile rig and with lots of things in mind for mobile operation. For a start, sound can be configured so as it increases by itself in fonction of external noise.

There is a speaker in the body of the radio and another in the display whose operation is user configurable.

One can listen to FM,AM or external source while monitoring a Ham frequecy. Very strong, very nice to touch, very nice to look at. Only regret (and that is with most radio conceptors) is that some of the accessoires are not yet available.

The PLUS on this model will be the capability of Bluetoothing and for mobile operation this is a revolution.

Receiver is excellent, very straight, no intermod and audio reports very good to excellent. Nice work Yaesu !

Super cool... Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Trying to stuff a VHF mobile into a MINI Cooper is a bit of a challenge but it appears the FTM-10R might just fit the bill...

...and I'm happy to report it does indeed! This rig packs a LOT of performance into a very small package. The receiver is plenty sensitive and audio on transmit rivals the best I've heard...

...and this is using just the built in mic in the faceplate! I did see the optional hand mic that goes with the radio: it's butt ugly! But since the rig has a built in mic, I'll have no need for it...

As with most modern radio toys, don't leave home without the manual. At times, figuring out what is what in the menuing system almost brings a grown man to tears. I'm sure a teen or sharp YL could master it in half the time I did...

Be prepared to wrestle w/ the radio a bit if you plan on separating the faceplate from the base. The small phillips head screws must have been put in with an airgun...and then tightened down with a lug wrench. Getting those puppies out without stripping them will test your moxie...it did mine!

Visually this radio is a real BEAUTY. The blue readout is nothing short of spectacular. If you get a chance to see one in person, you won't be disappointed. The magazine ad's don't do it justice...

Speaker volume is nice and plentiful. There's a speaker in the base...and even a smaller speaker in the control head/faceplate. Using the menu, you can pipe sound to either speaker or both. And there's the usual ext speaker connection on the back, too. This is what I will use when I port the audio out of the rig into the AUX sound input of the MINI's stereo system...

Overall, this is perfect radio for small tight places. It has several options for mounting: my plan is to use the magnetic faceplate mount included with the radio. The magnet is MEGA strong! I'll mount a steel plate somewhere in the MINI and presto! Instant mount...

Well made Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Everything has worked well up to this time, but some of the features make it a little different, such as the built in mic and PTT button. Like most of today's dual banders, cross band is missing, but then I don't remember the last time I needed it. The MH-68A6J mic is large compared to previous Yaesu products, but the audio reports have been very good. Due to the number of buttons, a few checks of the instructions will probably be needed by most. Since it works well and hasn't shown any early model problems, it rates great for now.
