Heavy duty Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This antenna gives me a little more gain than the SSB-7, but at a price. The construction is very strong, with heavy duty elements. With this comes greatly increased wind loading compared to the SSB-7. I am very concerned about using this with the SO-239 mount through the roof (sheet metal) of my Ford Explorer due to the wind drag generated at highway speeds. If selecting this antenna, look for a sturdy mount and enjoy a very good antenna.

Takes a licking Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
After most of a year & close to 200,000 (team operation, truck never stops moving) miles on my left mirror mount this antenna is working great. The base of the antenna is about 8.5 feet off the ground so it can't help but get out great, and get hit by trees. I had to replace the lower inductor ($12.00) once after a few too many tree hits, but that's to be expected in this application. Puts out a good clean signal.

My installation is less than perfect as Freightliner Columbia trucks are made with a lot of fiberglass and make poor ground planes. SWR measured with a MFJ-259B is less than 1.7 142-149 MHz.
1.4 143.5-144.75 Mhz,
1.5 145-146 MHz,
1.6 146.25-147.25 MHz.
1.7 147.5-149 MHz

The sleeve for the fold-over hinge must be tightened with pliers or it will vibrate loose.

You can kind of see it in this pic:
