Excellent assemble and very nice to work with			Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
About 3 weeks before a trip to Colorado I decided to buy an Elecraft KX-1 so I could operate QRP on the trip. Alan agreed to assemble it. He advised me well about the options to buy, and communicated well and promptly as he built the kit - even sending pictures of the various boards as he assembled them. The unit was finished on time and his craftmanship was at the expert level. I am perfectly satisfied with everything he did and certainly recommend him.

This is the 3rd time I have used Alan's services. He will let you know what the costs are up front, and the time required to do it. For this particular case, he re-aligned my K1 and it is sounding better now than it ever has... Recently, Alan complted assembly of a KPA100 power amplifier board and then integrated it with my existing K2 transceiver and KAT100 antenna tuner. I needed Alan's assistance with this work because of my business responsibilities and other time constraints. Alignment, interfacing and other tune-up adjustmets are right on the money. Workmanship was exemplary. Alan's charges for the work was fair and in line with what one would expect for work of this nature.

After completing my K-2 with all options, I had a short during reassembly after adding an external Micro Ham interface and the KPA-100 died. I thought I fixed the damage from the short but upon reassembly it did not work. As I was moving from Virginia to Alabama I just did not have the time or facilities to work on the radio so I contacted Alan for assistance and he exceeded all my expectations. He was quick to respond, kept me informed and shared his knowledge with me of the Elecraft K-2 and Ham Radio in general. He found my errors (another story), added the KPA100UPKT and performed a tune-up of the K2 (Spectrogram BFO setup, calibration with WWV and CHU). Back on the air, I got great signal reports. I thought his prices were very reasonable and his workmanship was superb. A true professional He is remain my Elecraft "go to" guy! Regards & 73, Al W6GBG

K1 Mods & Update			Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
About six months ago I purchased a used Elecraft K1 transceiver. It is an older model, serial # 993. I was very impressed with it's performance but after operating it for a while there were a few things that I wanted modified. Having no test equipment other than a DVM, I looked at these reviews to find a reputable repairman. Alan replied to my email quickly so I sent him the radio. He let me know that it arrived and called me when it was completed to tell me what he found and what he had done. I wanted the backlight kit installed, 17 meter band removed and 15 meter band in it's place and the tuning rate opened up. Not only did Alan make those mods, he found a few problems, fixed them and did a complete alignment. I am very pleased with the outcome. Alan's service was quick, easy and reasonable.

Very Professional Service			Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I contacted Alan because of his high reviews in eHam. I am also aquainted with several hams who have used his services. Alan finished a KAF2,KNB2 and installed them; installed a KSB2 and tuned to K2; made mods to KAP100, installed and tested; K2 updates K2KEYMDKT and latest firmware and tuneup of K2 (including Spectrogram BFO setup, calibrate with WWV, CHU. All was completed and returned to me in a timely manner. We incurred some damage to the K2 by returning carrier; front panel dented in and LCD destroyed. Alan contacted the carrier and ordered it returned to him. He repaired the damage and returned it to me. I built my K2 #3163 in 2003 and have operate it since. After Alan's service it's like having a brand new K2, with operation better than when I finished it in 2003. I would highly recommend Alan to anyone who needed Elecraft kit building, servicing, finishing and installing of Elecraft components. Alan is a professional and a gentleman.

Alan has tuned/repaired/modified a K-2, and built a KX-1 with all options for me. He is a pro-active communicator - quick to respond to questions, and during the build/repair process regularly kept me updated in a standard format, sending progress reports with pictures to show the work he had done. The quality of the work is outstanding!! He does not forget the little (but important!) things such as annotating the manual with the settings as he tunes the unit - he also ensures that all documentation changes/addenda are marked in the manuals to ensure that one has a set of fully current documentation as well as the documented specific settings for the machine. He may be a little more expensive than others - but what you get is a true professional who lets his excellant work speak for itself. He will remain my Elecraft "go to" guy! This comment is long overdue (my apologies to Alan, because he certainly deserves the comments I am about to write regarding his services). I contacted Alan because I wanted to repair, upgrade and align my K2/100. This involved some difficult logistics because I had to re-export the radio back to the US, including manuals, options, etc. Eventually, I also asked for Alan's assistance to actually put the radio on sale. Alan was extremely patient, kind and efficient and, in spite of the extra trouble and unusual requests from me, his rates were very very reasonable and the service was excellent! Without Alan's professional skills and good will I would have had a very hard time achieving my goals. I can certainly recommend Alan's services to anyone who might have an Elecraft kit to build or an assembled radio to align or repair. Your radio will be in good hands. 73 Manuel LU5OM & CT4IK

My K2 developed a few problems. I sent it to Alan and had it back in about a week, good as new. His rates are reasonable and he kept me informed during the repair process. Highly recommended.

Elecraft K2 Repairs			Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I recently sent my old (SN 550) K2 which I built in 1999 to Alan for correction of a strange problem which had developed. Alan found and corrected the problem and I had my K2 back in just a week or so. I am very satisfied with his service and reasonable charges and highly recommend him.
