Great job on my Ten-Tec kit! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Alan did a beautiful job of building and testing my Ten-Tec 1208 6-meter transverter kit. Actually, that's an understatement. When testing the newly-built unit, he found that the power output was only 1 watt rather than the nominal 8-10. He then found the problem: an error in Ten-Tec's printed-circuit board. After discussing it with T-T's service techs, Alan corrected T-T's error and the transverter now works great!

Alan also kept me fully informed during the construction process with frequent e-mails and photos.

If you are looking for highly professional, friendly service at a reasonable price, take it from me: you won't go wrong with Alan!

Elegant work, fair prices Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I had an Elecraft K2 kit with several optional modules and an Elecraft XV-144 transverter kit sitting on the shelf gathering dust. Since finding time to assemble these kits didn't seem to be a near-term possibility, I contacted Alan Wilcox, W3DVX. Alan quoted me a fair price to assemble both kits and I sent both of them to him. During assembly, I got frequent e-mail updates from Alan, including photos of the current state of progress. He even made some recommendations for adding additional options. Yesterday, UPS delivered the rigs to me. I couldn't resist popping the top cover off of the K2 to get a look at his work. While I expected top-quality work, I wasn't prepared for what I found...REALLY SUPERB WORK! Most impressive are the toroid windings...all evenly spaced and nicely wrapped in place. Alan's attention to detail is obvious and produces a truly elegant finished product. I would have no qualms about recommending Alan to anyone for work on a K2 or other Elecraft kit; whether for full assembly, troubleshooting or alignment. Thanks, Alan, for producing two very nice rigs.

Alignment of my K1 performed by W3DVX was excellant.If you have a Elecraft radio and needs some repair or updates Alan is well qualified.Alan has updated both my K1 AND K2 and very happy. Money well spent.Also he is listed in QST MAG in the classified section.

After building a K2 I was having difficulty tracing a barely working radio. After emailing Alan, he made arrangements to talk on the phone about the problems I was encountering. I shipped the radio and had it back in a little over a week. He was very helpful in his discussion, found two errors I had made in construction, did a great alignment, was very timely, and has very reasonable rates. A competent professional. I'm glad I found him to fix my radio, as I'm really having fun with it now.

alan gave my k-2 a professional alignment. he had it one day and it was on its rturn home to me.i spoke to alan many times on land line. his fees are very resonable and he is very honest and professinal. my k-2 is perfect and i,m very pleased.

Allen did an alignment check for me on the K1 I built, as i wanted it done by an expert. Had radio back in a week, super fast service. Will be building a K2 shortly and won't hesitate to use his services again

Superp Job Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I am a kit builder from Heathkit days (and earlier) and still build and repair much of my own gear when my eyesight will allow it. I insist on neat wiring and soldering. W3DVX did an excellent job in this department. His work is meticulous. The radio's performance is outstanding as well and indeed, much better than I had expected. If you are considering an Elecraft radio you won't do better than have to him build for you.

First and formost, he communicates with you the entire time, Work is superior, and prices are very fair.

You won't be sorry! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I built my K2 three years ago; and I've always been extremely happy with its performance. However, for various reasons, I never got the chance to align the filters properly using Spectrogram. Having a full time job and two young children puts a big hit on your spare time! I never wanted to take the radio out of service to do the job myself as I would much rather be operating than "fooling around".

Alan announced his service on the Elecraft e-mail reflector and it seemed like the timing was perfect! I contacted him via e-mail and Alan spelled out all the particulars for me. In addition to giving my K2 a good "once over" I also sent a long a KAF2 audio filter that I had purchased "used" for him to install.

I sent my "precious baby" to Alan via UPS; and in less than a week's time I had it back! The rig is 10 times better now than before I sent it away. I thought the K2 was wonderful before; but now it's utterly fantastic! My hands built it; and a professional engineer with all the right equipment tweaked it to perfection. What more could you ask for?

Well, I got more than I asked for. Not only did I get technical expertise; but I got honesty, integrity and excellent communications from Alan every step along the way. Alan is a top-notch professional, a dedicated Ham, and a true gentleman to boot. I would not hesitate for even a nano-second in endorsing and recommending his expert, extremely affordable and invaluable service.

If your happy with your K2; but think (like I did) that it can even be better .... then let Alan unleash your K2's potential for you. You won't be sorry!
