Great Antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Ordered it 2 days ago from HRO, and arrived on my doorstep 30 or so hours later. Pretty quick to set up. Tested with an IC-705. 1.1 SWR across 2 meters, 1.6 on 440. 6 meters was a bit too low for my liking, as I want to use it for FM. A hookup to an antenna analyzer, a few trial and error trims of the top element on the vertical, and the SWR came down to 1.2:1 at 52.4. Be advised, there isn't a whole lot of bandwidth on 6m, not that it got too crazy in other parts of the band. All the elements are solid stainless steel, not cheap and hollow tubing. Kinda wish i had found this thing years ago and not messed around with other antennas trying to find the holy grail of home base antennas. Time will tell as to the long-term reliability, because New England Winter is coming to give it a workout. If you're thinking about buying one, you definitely won't be wasting your money.

Great quality - as stated in other reviews Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I'm really surprised at how well built this antenna is. As things seem to be getting cheaper, this one bucks the trend. All stainless and chromed brass (I think). Antenna assembles easily and tunes up well on 6m.

Even though its mounted at 10 feet (for now) I'm able to hear very well with my SDRPlay unit and can even hit the local repeaters using my FT-991a.

All in all, a great purchase. I have a Comet dual band base antenna up that has been trouble free for at least 10 years. I expect this one to do as well.

Very high quality Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have a few Comet antennas and all are extremely well made and high quality. Got this discone mainly to use with receive on an SDR Play. Works really well. This is a tough-looking antenna with solid steel radials, machined fixtures to attach to a mast, machined and polished feed head, adjustable vertical whip with loading coil. I also looked at a cheaper version of a nearly identical discone from MFJ, but since my antenna experience with them has been, let's say, inconsistent, I paid the extra 25 bucks and went with the sure thing quality-wise. Glad I did. It's beautiful.

6 meter swr is high Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just put this up a few days ago. I expect it will perform as advertised with the exception of one thing; My swr for six meters is at 2.5 at 51 mhz and I've been unable to get it down following the instructions that came with the antenna. I'm no expert, so I could be overlooking something, but I don't think so.

Well Built Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I don't have a method for checking SWR on 2m or 20cm but the antenna does receive on those two bands. The antenna is very well built and looks awesome attached to my chimney. It came preset on 6m for 51MHZ. I tried tuning it for a lower center frequency, but ran out of whip! I figured out a kluge by clipping an alligator clip by itself to the tip of the tuning whip! That did it! I am now happy with a center frequency of 50.100mhz and swr of 1.2:1 and 2:1 bandwidth is about 200khz. Let's see how it hears once the fall tropo season kicks off down here in North West Florida!

Good for everything but 220mhz Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This discone advertises transmitting on everything EXCEPT 220 and for good reason. I tried it and it doesn't work well at all. My rubber duck inside the house works better. To be fair, it works well on all other advertised freqs and is solid construction. Works well on wideband receive.

Works well Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Had this antenna for over a year now and WOW a great performer. Holds up to wind with no problems at all. I have had 0 issues so far. Used it for Tx on 222,144, and 440 bands. I use a Satellite arm and an extra three feet of pipe to support it.

Great all band antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Well?...I have had my Comet DS-150S up for a month or a little more now...I initially wanted an antenna for APRS and packet that could free up my other Opek UVS-200 dual band vertical for rag chewing...I also have a TS-2000 and saw that this antenna covered 6 meters and 1.2 GHZ...Whats not to like about that?...I could get my feet wet on those bands and run a seperate APRS radios...So...My first thoughts were...how the heck do you adjust it?...Turns out that only the 6 meter top section can be adjusted for SWR and its preset to 51.0 MHZ and its pretty much flat across the whole 6 meter band...As a matter of fact its darned near flat anywhere I check on all bands with never more than a 1.2 to 1 SWR...A friend (N7VR) recently told me that every bench should have one for the reason that it is to flat and when you test radios you don't have to worry about your SWR...Great idea...I have worked all over the country on 6 meters and I can hit all the repeaters I was able to hit except one and luck would have that he is soon to move that one to a higher location...This thing is solid stainless steel would laugh at 150 mph winds...Its a no brainer...I only wish I had known more about it sooner...Oh...did I mention that AM and FM stations come screaming in on this antenna?...I couldn't even hear some of them on other antennas I have up...Cool!...Skynyrd on my FT897...
