Compact antenna let down by poor build quality			Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The Moonraker EVX6000 is a six band trap vertical covering the standard bands 80-10 plus 30 meters. I've owned one for just over a year and recently replaced it due to continuing problems associated with the poor quality of components. On the positive side this is a compact antenna just 5 meters tall with six radials at the base that need to be tuned to a section of the appropriate band. The construction manual consists of two or three A4 sheets and contains minimal information. Having said that the antenna is fairly simple to contruct. The bandwidth on 80M is very narrow as would be expected from such a small antenna and I found it impossible to get a match much below 2.5:1. On 30M I could not get the SWR below 4:1 and was forced to use an ATU. First noted problems when it rained and the swr for all bands started to vary due to rainwater getting into the traps. In the end I could only use this antenna in dry conditions which can be a problem if you operate in the UK! After a month or so the swr started to increase sporadically which I traced to the fact that one section of the antenna is joined to another by one self tapping screw. The screw had worked loose generating a poor connection. I ended up replacing the screw with a more robust nut and bolt. Other problems include the fact that the radials are adjusted by slackening an aluminium screw which corrodes fairly rapidly and shears off when you try to adjust it. My final gripe is that the radials attach to the body of the antenna by a soft copper screw fitting which "threads" incredibly easily if you apply too much pressure. Overall unless you need a very small antenna I would steer clear of this product especially as it is not cheap compared with others on the market.
