Description:
These are Heathkit remote antenna switches from the 1980's. The 1480 requite use of a control cable (7 or 8) color wires in one cable. The later 1481 used the transmission coax to signal the switch box.

Still Working Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had my HD-1481 since at least 1979. Works perfectly.

Simple, no problems Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've used mine for about 10 years and it was used when I got it. Have run milliwatts to over a kilowatt with no problems. Good Heath product that's still a bargain.

good Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had the 1481 for over 12 - 15 years (cannot remember). This was the last Heathkit I built. This thing just keep working through Canadian -40F winters and 90+ summers. It stopped working and I took it apart...could find nothing wrong, then discovered that squirrels has chewed the coax. If you can find one in good condition, grab it.

Nice compact, easy to use and set up Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've owned several of both units. The older unit the 1480 worked fine for several years and they the control switch no longer "locked on" to the assigned antenna. Bump your control box and it would change antenna in the midst of a qso. Not good. The later, dark brown, 1481, used a different switching system and relays.

The 1481 is rated at 2000 PEP. They can be had for about 50-60 dollars. I recomend the 1481 as it does not require a control cable. The signal to change antenna is sent through your coax.

Nice product from 1980's..... that still works.
