Looks Good - Finaly works great! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
We bought a HF-6080 Rev2 12 months ago and now upgraded to Rev3. We now also included the Peak Detector option.

First of all we have been quite unhappy with the "old" Revision2 and wanted to send it back for a refund but then simply forgot it. Now, after the upgrade to Rev3, we are more then happy with that unit. It finaly offers what you expect. The presentation of the meter, emc antenna and metal carrying case is great. The quality of construction is very good. You cant expect more for your money.

After connecting the unit to a PC via a USB port and using the latest "LCS" software you get a highly professional spectrum analyzer and can perform various measurements with lots of exclusive features. By the way: The Spectran software is free (simply download it from the aaronia website).

We are using the unit for Wifi, Lan, antenna and cable test but also for lots of emc tests (radio, TV, 868 IMS etc.). Its a very usefull tool with a nice accuracy (our test shows 99% of all measurements within 2dB accuracy). We could test that very well with our 18GHz signal generator...

The Peak Detector option is great! Its accuracy is within 1dB! over the total 6GHz range (10GHz is possible too). If you ever wanted to test cable dampings or want to finde a hidden bug THIS is the option you should add. Also very nice just to test what is going on. Very nice feature!

The main problem of the "old" rev2 was the display of aliases and the quite bad accuracy. This is finaly solved in the Rev3. Now the unit is aliases free and performs like a real analyzer. Its finaly what you expect from a Made in Germany product ;-)

Our final statement: GREAT tool for a very low price. Would order it again!

Looks Good - Works Bad Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought three of these for use at work, and had to send them back.

The presentation is great and you get a lot for your money as it includes a nice measuring antenna, handle, adaptors, cables, charger and metal carrying case.

The unit can connect to a PC via a USB port and various measurements can be made, plotted and logged with the Spectran software which is free.

The main market this unit seems to have been designed for is checking Wireless Lans for Level, Channel occupancy and Radiation limits.

The unit looks great and the quality of construction is very good. The main problem is that if you try to use it for anything else than checking Wireless Lans it does not work.

Connect a short antenna and do a sweep across the FM broadcast band or TV channels and it will not indicate signals correctly. It may find an odd one or two, but it in no way provides an accurate representation of the actual spectrum. When connected to a signal generator it still wouldn't display correctly. When running under the control of a PC with the software I felt that it was running in some sort of 'Demo mode', as sometimes it would find signals, sometimes it wouldn't. I just couldn't get repeatable results.

Various exchanges with the manufacturer consisted of them telling me that I wasn't using the unit correctly, and giving various other excuses. I finally got fed up trying to get any of the three units I bought to work correctly that I sent them back.

Not a good experience.
