Review Summary For : LDG AT-1000Pro
Reviews: 57MSRP: 599
Description:
Building on the success of the AT-1000, LDG Electronics has refined and expanded its 1KW tuner. The AT-1000Pro has an Auto mode that automatically starts a tuning cycle when the SWR exceeds a limit you set.

Operates at any power level between 5 and 1,000 watts peak. Relay protection software prevents tuning at greater than 125 watts. 2 Antenna connections. Tunes from 1.8 to 54.0 MHz (including 6 meters). Tuning time usually under 4 seconds, transmitting near a frequency with stored tuning parameters, under 0.2 seconds. 2000 memories.

2-Year Warranty. All cables included.
Product is in production

Works as promised Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Use the tuner with a 756 Pro III & HL-1.2 Kfx Amp and it works like promised without fail. It even beats my Palstar AT on some frequencies.

In over a year of service, this tuner has proven to be extremely reliable and effective. The auto-tune function is so convenient that I don't think I could ever own another manual tuner!

I've used the AT-1000pro with my beam, an intverted-L cut for 80M and a sloper off my tower cut for 40M. It tunes all three with no problem, and I am able to use the inverted-L all the way up to 10M. I use power levels from 5 watts up to 750 watts and the tuner is happy at any of these levels.

After reading the manual, I had one question about bypassing the tuner. I emailed LDG and got a reply back the next day that cleared up my confusion. That denotes good service to me.

If I had a nit to pick, it is that the AT-1000pro is LOUD when it tunes. It wakes the cat and sometimes the wife. :-)

Overall, I am very happy with this tuner and would purchase it again.

Very good products Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I am very happy with the LDG tuners I own. They work perfect.

I am very confused about the review from KI4GKS because he is blaming LDG for a problem at his IC-7000. Maybe there is only the 5A fuse to replace at his transceiver (manual page 137). If the fuse is not the problem, then the radio is poor designed. All my radios have a fused antenna tuner outputs so a short circuit would not make a defect.

The AT1000Pro is my first auto tuner. I have only run tuners that I have built.
To give an idea of what I am using with the tuner I am going to list them. 190ft "V" 450ohm ladder line with a 4:1 balun.
This tuner is used and only 6 months old and works and looks as new.
Once the antenna is tuned and in memory, settings are recalled within 0.5 seconds.
I am also running an AL80B amp and have had no problems while using it at 900w.
The only drawbacks I have seen with the tuner are these; First the meter is not PEP and not accurate which might be RF causing that and second I am not able to tune 160 meters with the AT1000Pro to less than 3:1 where both of my homebrew tuners will.
If it were not for those two things I would have given the AT1000Pro a "5".
Also, when I have had questions, I have sent emails and have received an answer within a day and the warrenty is transferable per LDG.
So far I am very satisfied with the AT1000Pro and wound not hesitate to buy another LDG product.

Wasted money Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought mine new from a local dealer. Used it once on 500 watt and went up in smoke. Got a absolute cold shoulder from dealer and LDG. Repaired it since myself but is a worthless tuner unstable and retunes it self when power gets high. I will never by another LDG product i get more support from my dog.

Bummer! :( ,but! :I Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
First with my good comments before I lay the smack down on it.

The tuner I believe is great! Aside from the noisy relays it seems to tune better than my Dentron Super Tuner. I've been tuning dipoles such as the W5GI Mystery antenna to other homebrew projects that are no where close to resonant on most bands and it tunes it.

The fact you can adjust Capacitance and Inductance manually is a huge benifit and very usefull.

Dwayne which is the owner is arrogant, condesending and rude, but we're speaking about product performance and not costumer service.

The peak watt reading would have been nice, but understanding the difference between peak and average watt readings I'm ok with it. The average watt meter will show acurately what you should be putting out with a single tone such as CW, FM, AM RTTY etc... Phone SSB is a different story, but I'll leave that up to you to research as I have.

The one only other thing on the watt meter is the stability. It seems if there's any antenna coupling or movement of the antenna the meter is so sensitive that it will pick that up. Could also be RF in the shack causing it being so close to an RF field, but my Palstar and a Bird watt meters are not affected so why the LDG? Reading the meter moves alot and tuff to accuratly make a determination. Hmmmm!

It's an easy tuner to learn, but I give the rating a 3 due to not having a peak watt reading option and sensitivity on the watt meter. Other than that average reading is OK and the tuner tunes great running 100 watts or 500 watts into it.

great so far! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Hi I have not had this tuner very long but it performs as advertised and learns quick. I have used it on a 160 dipole,80-40 multiband,ma5b tribander, and a ATB-34 tribander. It runs very good as long as you read the instructions and set it up correctly, and use antennas that are made for the bands you want to use. it sounds like someone shaking a tin box full of tools but works great, it is a timesaver and one less thing to worry about while dxing. 73

It could be much better. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought this tuner to use with my linear amp and although it tunes very well it only has an Average reading power meter and not a Peak reading meter. I was reliably informed by one retailer and also on the LDG web site that this had a Peak reading meter, wrong! LDG has since amended their site and have no intention of adding Peak reading to the tuner, which is a bad omission in my opinion. As I use a pulse tuner to tune the amp (far better for the amp) I needed the power meter to be Peak reading so I'm not too happy with this overpriced purchase as I've got to use an external Peak meter.

Put review in At1000 reviews by mistake. Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
My review is in the wrong spot. Sorry. I put it in the AT1000 reviews. Don't write at night! As you will see, the Pro seems like a work in progress, at least for me.

Quick rehash:
1. Very loud.
2. Very slow.
3. Unattractive (actually quite ugly)
4. Narrow tuning range.

Excellent Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is my third LDG autotuner and all have proven to be excellent.

I have only had this one a couple of weeks but so far its performance is just as outstanding as my others.

Great product.
