Best Quad ever sold Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have used mine at many different QTH's since 1973. It has now been up at my current location (on top of a 2000' mountain in the Pocono Mountains)for 10 years with no problems at all. I did replace many of the "problem" parts. I replaced the aluminum wire with copper clad, replaced all insulators with homebrew ones made from 1/2 in poly carbonate and protected from UV with high grade vinyl tape then covered with liquid tape. I also re did the crazy way of attaching the feed and gamma matches with a much simpler, and more secure method and of course changed out all hardware with SS. The quad far out performs my TA33SR in all aspects. It also does very well on 17 & 12, I use a legal limit tuner so the amp is happy on those bands as well as the low end of 10 where the SWR approaches 2:1. I spoke to hy gains engineering department a couple of years ago and they said they were considering making single band models.
Negatives: Worst assembly manual ever. I am pretty sure that many of these quads never performed well because they were never properly assembled.

Not Bad Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Purchased antenna used. Replaced 90% of hardware with stainless. Strong quad, has survived harsh Canadian winters. I have been using this for 25 years and it still functions fine.
All around good classic 10/15/20 tribander. Also works on 12 mtrs with 2:1 swr.
Held up for many years with little maintenance. In recent years it has required some repairs.
Replaced one aluminium loop with #14 hard drawn copper wire. Gamma matches have failed but they are very easy to rebiuld and can be repaired without taking antenna down.
Pros...
very quiet on receive
no rain or snow static build-up
Aluminium spreaders strong
good gain and F/B @54 feet boom height
many parts from hy-gain yagis will fit this quad

Cons...
more difficult to install than flat yagis
windload higher than specs. Likey 8 to 9 Sq Ft with modern calculations
hy-gain CD45II rotator will work but its right at the limits of that rotator
can't stack other antennas on tower

Can't understand how others would be dissapointed with this. Its by no means the best but it will hold its own against many other tri-banders.

Good luck...73, VA3MO

no F/b on CA. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
It was an ok antenna . Lots of f/s yet no real f/b where you need it on CA or NY etc. But great F/B on VK or ZL....!? the manual wants it 10 ft above the tower with schedual #80 mast (5 lb/ft )=50 lb above the tower + antenna . My old spalding tower did the hula that way and we took it down and put up the TH-7 on a Triex 70' Remote crank up tower. It was good in all respects yet needed to be @70 ft to start working on long hall dx. it was gud for 13 years then went to the TH-11. WHAT A DIFFERENCE !!!! @ 40' IT WAS AMAZING !! CLEARLY THE LOG CELL WITH SAME BOOM MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE AND LONG HALL DX WAS NOT A PROBLEM WITH 5 WATTS OR LESS WITH GOOD PROP.... MORAL OF THE FACTS JUST GET THE TH-11 AND SMILE . AN OUTSTANDING ANTENNA 73 gl LOVE THE TH-11 WITH MORE GAIN THAN THE 204BA Monobander on 20m MILL SPECKS (NO GROUND GAIN) now if it only had 30 m. 73 KI0Z Dave

good quad Time Owned: N.A.
a good antenna that Hygain needs to bring back to the market. There are still many used around the world. I know I want one. You can still down load the manual on the hygain site. Made of aluminum instead of fiberglass. Which I think would be much stronger in bad weather climates. Call them and tell them to start making it again. they also could update it and ad the warc bands to it.
