No Longer in Production Time Owned: more than 12 months.
RLC and Link-Comm are no more. The hyperlink above no longer works, and the DSP404 is no longer in production, although they will still fix them. Go to http://www.audiotestsolutions.com for info on other controllers currently being produced. They also have a partial archive of FAQs and info on the DSP404, including info on a number of things that never made it into the manual. Chief among these things is how to link these controllers via VoIP, one of the major cool things about the DSP404. There is also a Yahoo group that supports the DSP404. This group is probably your best bet for info and support now.

Our club has two DSP404's, and they have been quite reliable and flexible. Not the easiest to program, but the open programming concept gives you lots of flexibility and security if you work at it long enough to become fluent in how it works.

needs support Time Owned: more than 12 months.
well i own two of theses and have sent them in for repairs too many times mosty bad chips not customer issues each time i ended up with an new controller but its an bad think when your prised repeaters go off link in the middle of the day and ya get to the site to find out the controller went brain dead again starts out rebooting them selfs then next the memory chips smoked two times now and once for audio chips smoking and once for the main storage chip smoking .
steve is great to work with but allen is not so fun to deal with these were going to be an 12 port controller but now only an 4 port is made stackable to make more ports but the audio routing from one controller to the next is not supported yet maybe in the next firmware
i do use two of them linked so i do have input here
and have owned them for three years plus .. buy an club deluxe you will be happier i own two of them too

well i have owned link comm controlers for many years now and they still follow the same trend. the 404 lives up to the same old story great idea on paper and they never follow threw on the updates they promise its been two years and the controller just sits on the shelf with every update more issues get added the last update disabled the usb port witch realy sucks after spending weeks writing tracks to work with an kenwood ts 2000.. the pl/dts tone in/out never has been added they just say we are working on it when you ask . dont ask anything that might be degrading on their yahoo group they will just remove it and you will never get a reply from them .. i started my own dsp_404 yahoo group that you can ask any thing and it will be posted .. the bottom line it looks great on paper but they are years behind on the updates .. this is after sending it back two time on my dime over their bad parts used in building them .. love the controler just wish they would fix the issues.. its been two years plus now..

So far so good... Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Although the start is a little slow, so far this controller has proven to be reliable and easy to align for port audio. I say a slow start because not all the feature set has been implimented as of the date of this writing. Programming of basic features and audio levels can be done real-time either through the serial port or online via the network/internet. This controller has the potential to be the end all and do all of repeater controllers when all the feature set is implimented into the software/firmware. As of right now we have a basic controller and audio bus that appears to be working pretty much flawlessly. The control and programing software is intuitive to use and initial setup of 4 ports was a snap for me. If your comming from a Arcom RC210 or 810, the port wiring is pretty much the same and was a plug and play move for my equipment.

Keep you eyes open in the near future for features such as the remote VOIP interface, DVR, Squelch, PL/DPL encode/decode, and a host of other features to be implimented into the software soon.
