Excellent work!!! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Excellent design, easy to build, and upgradeable ;)

I wanted to get a feeling of Juma quality without spending too much money before plunging into heavy stuff. They pass the exam with an A+, now I'm ready to buy the all bands transceiver and the 100W linear. It worked without a glitch right after I connected the power supply. Adjustments are a breeze.

a pleasure to build Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
A superb kit from Finland!
At first I was hesitative to build a SMD kit, but in fact with a normal small soldertip it was quite easy to do. The manual is VERY thorough, components are all clearly labeled and you get a good deal of RF education for free. For me it was a "one-go-kit", when finished the RX came to live immediately.

It is a big surprise that a seemingly "simple" design has such a receive quality. Matti & Juha did their homework very well. Clean VFO,clean audio, good PIC-programmed user interface, good sensitivity and a very surprising dynamic behaviour of the switching HEF mixer! No broadcast breakthrough, no problems on 40m next to strong BC stations.

As this kit doesn't use dedicated IC's in the RF part it is easy to add your own extras (like CW bandwidth/adjustable AGC/etc)

Building this kit should be your hamradio exam...
Excellent!

Great little receiver Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This was my first attempt at SMD parts kit, once you get around doing the DDS chip all the other components are relatively easy. You just need to take your time and make sure you put the parts in the correct spot and in the correct orientation.
The kit was a challenge at first but as work on it progressed it became very easy to do.
The radio came to life first time with no problems just a couple adjustments required, the AGC threshold voltage and trimmer R42 in the LO buffer amplifier to fine tune the unit.
Look forward to doing the TRX2 Transceiver.
