Heavy but reliable Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This radio is the big brother of the SEL SEM-35 (see my reviews on that one). It produces 10x the power and has the same frequencyrange. It operates a bit differently from the SEM-35 but basically it is the same radio, only the size and weight are different... I guess about 30kg.

The radio gives about 15W of power, produced by one of the latest tubes that were used for this purpose. The entire radio is transistorized but the PA uses only one tube. However, this is no problem since it operates on the usual 24V.

I have only little to say about this rig. It is possible to make contacts over quite some distance. You can only set it up in one place or you would like to ruin your back.

The only very big plus is this: when you own two of them, you can build a repeater with only one (1) cable, the so-called 51-52 cable. Just switch it to REPEATER and it works with 10% of frequency-difference (10m to 6m and vv is no problem). You only have to build an antennafilter or use two antennas. It can also drive a very inexpensive but good tuner!

Once used, you'll never loose it.
