Review Summary For : Palstar AT2K
Reviews: 130MSRP: 595.95
Description:
A newly-designed, smaller roller inductor allows the AT2K to tune 6 Meters, while a relay-switched toroid adds the extra inductance needed for 160 Meter coverage. Newly designed capacitors feature lower minimum capacitance for improved high band performance, while maximum capacitance has been increased to 400pF for better low band performance. In addition, the Peak/Peak Hold metering from the PM2000 has been incorporated into the AT2K.
Product is in production

Very pleased Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Got the tuner and installed. Great looking and works great. Good manual with complete instructions. Loaded up all the bands on the Windom and easy to tune.

PHENOMENAL PERFORMANCE IN A QUALITY BUILD. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Phenomenal performance in an attractive package. Not a bad combination, but also feels very well made and high quality. If you need a tuner with a legal limit amplifier, this is the choice. I like the feel of the capacitor knobs, and inductor control. I have uses a LDG Pro-600 tuner that was great also, but this tuner can take it up to 2kw without a problem.

Both Versions here! 5+ Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have the old AT2K with the extra switched in Inductance and the new version with the bigger roller inductor.

Either way you CANT GO WRONG!

These things will literally tune a toothpick on 160 or ten meters!

You will never regret the purchase!

I used to believe that antenna tuners are bad solution for HAM (usualy when you have bad SWR). Using with my G5RV from home, have to notice that this tuner it's over all I expect it from such a piece of work of art. I never don't regret buying this tuner.
I do smoothly mach my antenna with 1KW, and had never issues to do it 1:1, even if I try with simple wire. Beleve me this tuner can do anything you like to do.
I will recommend to all of you. Don't think just take it, you wouldn't be sorry for any cent.

Best in its Class Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This tuner works and works well. More expensive then some, but, in my opinion, worth the extra cash. Very solid, with an excellent "feel" to the controls. I use it with both coax and balanced window-line (through a balun) feedlines. It has never failed to achieve a perfect match into any reasonable antenna. I run 1 kilowatt through it on 80 through 10 meters. I highly recommend this tuner. 73, Jim

Works as a tuner should Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After many troubles with my MFJ tuners, I junked them in favor of the Palstar AT2K. Easy to match all bands from 10m-80m on my Butternut HF9VX vertical. MFJ tuners could not match well on 10m, 15m, & 80m. My AL811 amp also loads MUCH more efficiently with improved output power.

Many of the previous positive reviews are spot on, and I thank all of you for providing me a great resource to help me finally find the match of my life!

Smooth and solid Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This unit exudes quality. It tunes my ground plane and inverted V effortlessly. The power meter is consistent with my LP-100 wattmeter (another great piece of gear). I can return to previous settings with confidence. This unit also looks good. I have owned a Drake MN-4, NYE MBA-VI, and Johnson matchbox, all of which worked, but nowhere as well as this unit.
Recommended completely.

Very nice Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had this tuner for about 1 year. It doesn't get a lot of use since all but one antenna is resonant. I use it with a sloping dipole for 80 M and it does a very nice job with my SB-1000 and FT-2000. It is very well built and one of the best pieces in my shack.

The previous review mentioned the limit for the inductor. Mine stops at 249, and the manual copyrighted in 2007 indicates that is the correct number. The latest manual dated 2010 show 279. Apparently the turns counter has been changed.

I have had the AT2K tuner for 9 months. I have been an ham since 1971 and have used many tuners. This is the best tuner I have ever it will tune the gutters on my house. I recommend this tuner to anyone. Palstar keep up the good work.

Smooth! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
For years, I have used my trusty TenTec 229 roller tuner but it died on me last week and parts for it were just too much. Sooooo, I went looking for a replacement. MFJ was out....I have a 986 here that was given to me to repair and was never picked up....On the recommendation of friends at HRO, I purchased the PalStar AT2K...1 more knob to play with but no biggie. Got it unpacked and installed and went through the frequencies of my OCF flat-top. WOW! How smooth everything was. Nary a hitch. Even convinced the tuner to give me a fairly low SWR on 160 and my antenna is not cut for 160! The meter is accurate to my Bird, the case is solid, the dials are easy to read...in short..I can't find anything I am unhappy with...oh..'cept the manual...I hit the roller stop at 259...manual says the stop is at 279. Factory cautions about smacking the stop hard....well..thinking I had 20 more points to go, I was cranking hard and really whapped the stop. Told Paul this and he didn't sound concerned beyond and sharp intake of breath. Palstar really needs to get that changed....they print their own manuals so it would be easy enough for them to do, but didn't appear this was a priority with them. Otherwise, this is one nice piece of equipment and I recommend it highly. I will come back after a couple 100 QSO's and give an update.
