SUPER-WELL-BUILT. BASIC.			Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I am now having good results with my radio, having re-soldered the HV cabinet with an 80 Watt iron, and new solder wherever transmitted power passes. I sent the radio out for some RPR and alignment. New tubes where they make a difference. You, know, just like buying the 1970 Ford for $500, This radio has turned out to be a bargain. The receiver is fantastic. The tone with the (new) built in speaker is terrific, I don't know what DSP adds, but if you have a good receiver and a good speaker, you don't need it. I got a 57N within minutes of sending CQ once I put the coax from MY MFJ 1621 up off the floor from Washington State (I live in Vegas). Again , just now, a minute of two of fishing, and my call comes back. Radio is stable quick, is heard and hears all even though I am using a table-top "telescoping" whip antenna -in an apartment, next to some kind of County radio facility, near Downtown, and the list of drawbacks goes on. I am having FUN!!!

excellent rig for both base and mobile use			Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
bought the rig used off e-bay really expecting to repair it before using it. I took the precaution to power it up slowly and allow the components to stablize themselves(took a month), then loaded it to a 5BTV vertcal. I run it at 260 watts on 40M, 200watts on 80M, 180watts on 20M, and 120watts on 15M. The rig runs true to form and does not drift due to allowing the rig to warm up properlyShould allow any tube type warm up for 30 to 60 minutes before using. I'm using the rig for my base but is capable of going mobile in a moments notice. I wouldn't trade this rig for anything. Been hamming since 1955. Have used Kenwoods and Yaesu rigs but to me they just can't outdo the Swan

I HAVE OWNED BOTH THE 260 AND 270 SINCE THEY CAME OUT. BOTH ARE BASIC RIGS ONLY NEEDING A ANTENNA AND POWER AC OR DC. NEVER USE THEM ON CW. THE FINAL A 6LQ6 DOSEN'T HAVE NEAR ENOUGH PLATE DISSIPATION FOR KEY DOWN WORK. I HAVE USED THEM MOBILE WITH GREAT SUCCESS.
