Review Summary For : Ham-Mate 2 meter - watt meter
Reviews: 1MSRP: more or less $150 in 1980 dollar
Description:
Sold mostly in the 80ā€™s, this watt meter was made by the Bird Corporation for Henry Radio in Los Angles. It comes with two switchable scales, 0-25 Watts and 0-250 Watts. With the addition of a 47K series meter resistor you can range the meter to cover 0-2500 watts.

Forward and reflected is an actual Bird slug that you rotate from the front panel. The meter is very nice looking and makes for a nice dedicated meter for the QRO station. Input and output connectors are UHF and located on each side.

There is plenty of room for a peak reading module inside with the battery.

Nice accurate meter Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought this meter at a swap meet for $100. Took it home and calibrated it and the overall readings are within +/- 5% of sale. I added a 47 K series resistor to the meter movement to range the unit from 250 to 2500 watts indicated. I located the range switch on the back.

There is plenty of room to add a peak reading module and I will be using it as a station power meter with my Commander 2 meter amplifier. The size is about 4.5 inches wide by 4 inches high by 3 inches deep.

The only thing I would like is for ā€œNā€ connectors but the UHF connectors on the sides are fine.

Quality is very good and the meter legends are easy to read. The meter is built very well with good internal shielding. The meter movement appears to be the same as the Bird 43 unit.
