Review Summary For : SCOM 7330 Triple Repeater Controller
Reviews: 2MSRP: 525 + 30 shipping
Description:
A major upgrade to its ultra-reliable predecessor, the SCOM 7330 can control three separate repeaters. The port-related hardware for each port is completely separate - it's like having 3 separate controllers in one box.
Product is in production

Very pleased Time Owned: more than 12 months.
We have two of these controllers in service and are very pleased with their performance. Both controllers utilize all three ports controlling various repeaters and remote bases.

Programming can be done via DTMF or locally through its RS-232 port. We program the controller with hyper terminal by uploading a txt file with all the programming. This method take all of about 2 minutes to upload 100+ command lines.

This controller is a workhorse and audio quality is excellent. I recommend it to anyone needing a multiport controller.

Worthy of the SCOM legacy Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
The SCOM 7330 is the new controller from Colorado-based SCOM Controllers, LLC. The controller is a major improvement over the
outstanding SCOM 7K designed in the late '80s.

Quality of construction is superb. Audio is excellent and features are very robust.

The 7330 "fixed" the shortcomings of the 7K - you can completely program it over a serial port (though DTMF programming is still possible). Additionally, you can upgrade the SCOM firmware over the same interface. On our system when the new firmware release comes out, I just dial into the control line, upload the firmware, and tell the controller to do a full reboot.

The 7330 also features a wav-file based speech synthesizer. Although the current firmware release does not include the ability to upload your own custom WAV files, this is expected in the near future.

There are a lot more features - you can visit their website to read about the rest. From a review standpoint, SCOM has built a really nice unit here. When we replaced our existing (non-SCOM) controller on the Brookline, MA 446.325 repeater, several users commented on the how the audio quality had improved. The controller has performed flawlessly, first on the bench and then at the site for about six months now.
