I bought one of these (after some hassles with non-supply by CPC-Farnell) from Maplins in the UK.
I have already got a couple of dual band mobile antennas but want to go 6M mobile. So a triband antenna seemed the best step.
The item is packed as most Moonraker whip antennas by being shrink wrapped to a cardboard backing sheet. Don't expect any setting up instructions because they never seem to enclose any (I've had 3 Moonraker whip antennas and they never enclose anything other than an allan (Hex) key).
The construction is very impressive resulting in a very heavy and sturdy feeling antenna. However because of it's length and it's weight I'd suggest that it's probably not suitable for magmount use at motorway (freeway) speeds if you want it to stay on the vehicle roof. Roof bar mounting will be the only way I use it on the move.
It's supplied with the top whip section loose and this has to be slipped in and clamped in place.
However, since there's no set up instructions if you come to set this thing up for lowest SWR you may hit a snag.
Adjusting the top section will have near as dammit no effect on the 6m swr at all. You will need to adjust the very bottom section which was, in my case, as far into the base as it could go.
There were a few glitches (for some reason) adjusting the thing but then, after moving the vehicle, the problems went and I ended up with about 1.2:1 on 2 and 70 and about 1.3: across the whole of 6.
Like I say. it's nicely made and looks like it'll provide years of service but if you're determined to use a magmount then I'd suggest nothing less than a triple magnet high power type should be considered.
