One Great Headset, with microphone Time Owned: N.A.
One of the best headset, microphone buys on the
market. Works great with all my Icom's . I rewired
so the rig powers the microphone from the phone
jack power pin. I get great audio reports.
Best $45 I've spent on a mic. Yamaha CM500, going to
buy a second one.

Great investment Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Ordered a set after reading the reviews on this site. Going price is $50-$60. I worked numerous SSB stations and a couple of contests with the headset and always get great reports. They are lightweight and very comfortable to wear for hours. Definitely worth the money.

Very Pleased Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Purchased a pair from B&H Audio for <$40, based on a thread on the Elecraft reflector. They plug directly into the K3 w/o any adaptors/modifications, etc. (must turn on the mic bias in the config menu) Have had excellent audio reports and the earphones are comfortable. A quality product from a major manufacturer of audio equipment at a very reasonable cost.

Great Value Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I purchased the CM500 based on the suggestion from Harry, W4WST. Harry was running a set on our local Rag Chew 75 meter frequency, they sounded excellent.

After we learned of the price at the time (39.95), we were amazed. Needless to say, many of us on the frequency had to have a set of our own.

It seems quite a few other hams have also followed suit. Unfortunately, it seems that because of the demand, the price has climbed to 50+ dollars, but still a good deal when compared to the H brand.

As good as Brand H! and <<<$ Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I purchased these on the basis of eHam reviews and am very pleased with them. Very good over the ear background sound isolation and multiple "great sound" reports. I am using these on my Elecraft K3 directly plugged in (stereo 3.5mm plugs) and on my IC-746 via an 8 pin din adapter cable I built. good reports on both.
The construction looks rugged, so I anticipate using these for a long time...

Good for the price Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Easy to connect using readily available connectors (Radio Shack). Mic is helped if you have an equalizer and generally has a good clean sound and usable output.
The headphones are not typical Yamaha quality sound -- they are muffled compared to either the Heil or Kenwood cans -- but then again they are considerably less money.

Glad I Bought Them Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Can't add any more than the others except that I did have to use the included line amp with my FT-890.

Have received good audio reports, did the same as other reviewer and made adapters so I didn't have to cut the ends off. When I connected with a friend over the Internet using this headset and laptop they responded "Wow, you sound great!"

Good value for money Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I bought a set of these based on the eHam reviews, and have been very happy with them. Very good product for little money, and they don't even have the magic high $$$ H symbol on them.

works great with W2IHY gear Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I put these phones into use today. In the past, I have used a Heil headset and a fancy Sennheiser headset, but I think I like this one best. And the price cannot be beat. I paid $41 at fullcompass.com. I will not repeat what the other two reviewers have said, but will cover some other info.

First, I have a big noggin. Hat size 7 3/4. I don't know who these were designed for, but they fit me fine, and could have been adjusted for a much, much larger head. Normally, I wear phones for an hour or so, and feel like I have to take them off. Not these Yamahas. I wore them today for over three hours, and only took them off because I was going QRT.

The mike is electret, and the cables are quite long. Both the phones cable plug and the mike plug are 1/8" stereo plugs. With a visit to Radio Shack, I got adopters for the mike plug to go to an RCA plug. The W2IHY 8 band and EQplus have RCA mike jacks. Got great audio reports.

Brand "H" may come with all of the connectors suitable for amateur radio use, but once you get these interfaced to your radio/audio chain, the Yamaha works flawlessly. And at that price, you can afford a lot of adopter cables.

A Super Deal!! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This may be the best deal for a headset boom mic combo out there. The build quality is quite good; superior to my experience with several Heil headsets. The mic is definitely an eletret element, although there are some references to it being a dynamic element; not so! As the previous reviewer noted the package comes with a little in-line battery box to provide power to the element if that is more convenient than getting it from you mic jack.

I am using this headset with an Elecraft K-3 that includes a parametric TX equalizer. You can get great sound out of the mic with or without an EQ. The boom is very adjustable and robust so you can get it in just the right position.

As with many consumer headsets marketed toward the PC gaming or audio crowd, the rx audio is a little bassy. This isn't really a problem for me since I normally tighten my DSP filter to limit the bandwidth of the received signal.

These are a super buy at $40 from sources such as Musicians' Friend or other on-line sources.

I have finally found a headset I like and can recommend highly!
