best buy Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
70S TECH DOES ITS JOB. I HAVE USED SEVERAL DSP UNITS IN THE PAST, AND NOT ONE WORKS AS WELL ON SSB AS THIS FINE PRODUCT. USING WITH A KENWOOD TS 520. WANT TO HEAR A SIGNAL POOP OUT? GET A AUTEC QF-1. YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED. BOB W6TNI

Surprizingly useful Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I'm always amazed at what this simple little filter can do. I put it between a rig with no extra filters and my headphones, and signals in the mud are clearly readable on CW. I haven't used it much on SSB, but it seems good there too. A used one, for about $20, is much cheaper than buying a filter that is mounted inside the rig, and you can easily use the QF-1 with different radios.

Autek is Autistic Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Had a real bad experience with Autek. Never buy these filters again. Company is rude, stuff is overpriced, etc.

Amazing product Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Ran one of these for several years with an Icom 720A I owned. It did incredible things on receive! Never needed to buy the CW filter for the rig, and the peak filter is like nothing else. Just move the selectivity to near minimum, and peak the signal, taking it from no copy to solid copy. You can find these for little of nothing now, and they are worth the price and more. If you run CW, you will be amazed also.

Still a great filter for weak signal CW work Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just picked up one of these on eBay for $17.00, wanting to compare it to my Timewave DSP-599zx for weak CW work on 160 meters. While this filter is 1970s technology, it does a better job of pulling out the weak ones than the Timewave. Controls are: Selectivity, function (peak, notch, lowpass), and tuning. Requires the use of headphones, and has a mono headphone jack. For weak signal work, I advance the selectivity control just about to maximum and tune for peak of the desired signal. There's more ringing than you'll hear in a digital filter, but it's not really objectionable. When you turn the power switch off, the filter is not bypassed, so you have to unplug the headphones and plug them into the rig to operate without the filter in the circuit. These filters are often available on eBay and are a good addition to older receivers with less than adequate filtering. If you're into 160 CW dxing, you need this filter or one of the tunable active filters. If you experience much AC hum in this filter, replace the 1000 MF filter cap in the power supply.
