A real mans soldering iron! Hi HI! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought one this weekend and put it to work resoldering a electrical connecion on a 7 cell battery pack for one of my RC monster trucks. I like the dual heat function as well as the ability to switch the heats with just the trigger. It soldered my connections on the batterys with no problems. The next test will be soldering some PL 259's. That's what i got the iron for mainly anyways. You do have to be careful not to hold down on the trigger for a long time as the tip will glow RED HOT and you can ruin the iron!! Overall it seems like a pretty decent product. Very heavy and well built. Its not a Weller but its nice to have a heavy duty iron you can buy locally that you dont have to order online and wait for. I have mostly Radio Shack soldering irons and most of them work OK.
