Good piece of test equipment Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Just finished building the Mini-Kit DDS Sweep Generator and the accompanying Power Head. Though maybe not for beginners is not too difficult to build and you end up with a nice piece of test equipment. I had one question while building it and Mini-Kit responded promptly. Overall a well designed kit. The power head addition is especially useful.

Horrible! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Kits can be a hit or miss experience, but my experience with Mini Kits is hands-down the worst kit experience I have ever had. When the board for the kit arrived, I discovered that the holes were improperly drilled. When notified of this defect, Mini- Kits essentially said "too bad, so sad", and refused any additional assistance. After re-drilling every hole on the board and wading through the error-filled diagrams, the kit would not operate correctly. In addition, it seemed that the 9851 chip had been damaged by Mini-Kits during assembly of the board. I again contacted Mini-kits, who said "you have the wrong software"- the software they sent pre-programmed on a pic with the kit. After loading "revised" software, the kit still does not function, and Mini-Kits has been completely unsupportive of their product. I can only assume that they have this same attitude in regard to their other products. I write this review as a warning to other amateurs not to deal with Mini Kits.
