2100Z Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I bought this amp in faulty condition so I only paid 50 pounds for it. The problem was a joint had become unsoldered on a coil. The amp now works fine but the joint has come unsoldered a couple of times in the last 2 years usually when I have had a marathon session on the radio. One of the fans stopped working due to a clogged bearing. After a strip down and clean it worked ok. It is a really simple design and any amateur should be able to repair one provided they have the necessary HT test equipment. Other than that it seems to work fine, but if you are a black box amateur who is frightened to look inside the case remember this is an old piece of equipment and is probably best left alone.

25 years solid performer Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I purchased my FL-2100B new from Henry Radio in 1977. I have used it on all bands with hundreds of hours of run time fed by tube and solid state transceivers alike. I still have the original 572Bs that work like thay did 25 years ago. I have had to clean the input rotary switch a few times and changed a capacitor in the 20M input circut to get the SWR down so my old TS-430 would provide full drive. If you find one at the fleas for $250 buy it.

good old workhorse Time Owned: more than 12 months.
i give the 2100 amp 5 out of 5 for performance, reliability and easy to use,i ran a portable station and used my 2100b 4 times a week 12hours a day running flat out for 2 years solid powered by a portable 3.5kva generator, i never had any problems what so ever apart from all my hair dropping out (RF) . if you want a good cheap amplifier at a fraction of the price of all your fancy brands and makes buy yourself a 2100b/z... lets see if half these new brands are around in 20 years time like the fl2100.

Do not like it Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I do not like it because it burns the bandswitch easily. I owned two FL2100B´s and one FL2100Z from 1992 to 1996. The three of them had the bandswitch damaged! It also gets so hot that you can fry an egg on it after some minutes of transmission. Today I own an Ameritron AL80B and an old SB220 and I like them both very much.

I like the FL-2100Z, my first amp. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I can't say to much since this is my first amp., but it's easy to use, and I've been getting good to excellent reports the whole two days it's been on the air.Very quiet amp. You can't hear any fan noise. I had to rewire it for 110v to use it. Some other hams have told me it's a good amp., but it's my first, and only on two days! Anyone have any comments about it's operation would be appreciated. What's the difference between the B vs the Z ? On cw no QSK, and clicks a bit loud. I think it's better as a ssb amp. Really don't need hi power on cw anyway.

Sure wish I still had one. Time Owned: unknown months.
I inherited a 2100B fromathe estate of a friend and soon fell in love with it, Very impressed with how well it was built. The 572's, mounted horizontally each had their own cooling fan mounted underneath them. (good idea since heat rises) The rest of the amp was just as well thought out and the controls had a very solid feel. Easy to tune up also. Just a nice amp for someone on a budget or for someone wanting a backup or for the contester on a budget just itching to try two radio contesting, but has only one 220 outlet. I had an Ameritron AL 811 at the same time, and the quality and feel of that amp just did not compare to the 2100B. For about $250.00 on the used market, you can't go wrong.
