Needs Improvement Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
It works, but the design could be better. The binding posts could be spaced a bit farther apart for ease of use. Also, the binding posts are "captive", so you can't use proper ring-type terminals. I had to cut my ring terminals to make them into spade connectors, which is not ideal since they can now easily become disconnected.

Wired Correctly, Works Great Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I ordered directly from MFJ. The unit arrived without much delay. I opened the back to inspect it prior to putting it into operation.

It was wired as expected. Correctly.

Awful QC Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
A review in 2008 reported hat the unit was wired BACKWARDS....

Fast forward to 2019 ....
Same problem, wired BACKWARDS.... lost my SCU-17, thankfully nothing else.

MFJ - You need to get a grip on QC

Similar Results Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I discovered almost the same results as the other Reviewers. Yes, I reversed the back cover for the same reason-- the mounting holes were covered up! Doesn't MFJ check-Quality Control-Design? With that, I too, looked inside with the back cover off and checked the fuses; cap bypass; soldering; wiring; and also checked everything over with an Ohm Meter. Everything was actually tightened up! The terminal ring connectors on the end of the 6-foot DC cord look a little cheesey(Cheap) but, I think they will work OK connected to my Astron PS. Before running power through this thing I wanted to make sure about the connections inside and out! I recommend everyone do this with MFJ products! Haven't put power into it yet-- did notice the installed fuses inside were 40amps each not 35amps. The Unit states max. Amps are 35 per positive and negative posts. I will do another Review down the line. Overall, I do think this is a great piece of equipment to have for the shack(if you don't have Powerpoles design). This equipment is needed for the shack... It is overpriced.

Only one complaint but I like the unit Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Seems to be built OK compared to some other MFJ products I own with bad soldering, leaky enclosures, rough edges on metal and lights burning out. Only comment is the back plate. The mounting holes are right under the DC supply cable on one side and ground screw on the other side. I took the back plate off and turned it "upside down" with problem solved. While I had the back plate off, I looked inside and it appears to be constructed fairly well. This unit replaces a 20 year homebrew DC distribution system. I think it will suffice for another 20 years if not longer!

Works great Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've had this for a few years. No problems at all, I use banana plugs to plug in other itemns as I need them. Highly recommended.

Why does this thing blow my radio's fuse??? Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Oh yeah, it came from MFJ wired BACKWARDS!!!

We bought two for a communications van we were putting together. One worked perfectly...the other would blow the fuse on any radio we used. A quick check with a VOM gave a reading of -12VDC. HUH? Then we placed both units side by side and it became obvious..the red supply wire was going to the BLACK binding posts!!!
