One Mod Needed Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The antenna works VERY well on both 70 cm and 2 m with my mag mount. I did have some pretty big problems with it folding over while driving back to Colorado from Ohio. It folded over 3 times in about 2 hours driving 65 mph on the freeway. I found that the easiest solution is to take a metal hose clamp and tighten it down over the joint where the antenna folds back. This has solved the problem completely! It worked well driving 75 mph into a 30 mph headwind. Keep in mind though, with this set up, the antenna WILL NOT fold back, so be careful with low hanging branches and drive through overhangs!

Gave a rating of a 4 because it works SO well, but needs modification.

GOOD PERFORMER Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
YEP, THE ANTENNAE DOES FOLD OVER ABOVE 65MPH...BUT WHAT THE HEY! JUST GET A 3 TO 4 INCH PIECE OF
SMALL AUTO HEATER HOSE THAT JUST SLIPS OVER THE MAST AND GOES DOWN OVER THE COILS AND FITS SNUGLY OVER THE FOLDOVER POINT. IT WILL NEVER FOLD OVER ON YOU AGAIN...JUST SLIP IT UP AND FOLD THE ANTENNAE BACK FOR GARAGE ENTRY. HITS REPEATERS FAR AWAY WITHOUT BANGING TRIM LIMBS AND OVER HEAD WIRES LIKE MY PREVIOUS 97"!

Works for me! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I haven't had it fold over under driving conditions, 75 mph speed limit here in Colorado.

Does fold over if you hit something, nice safety feature. My Comet CSB-790A has had the loading coil and one of the phasing coils replaced because they broke off upon hitting trees.

I didn't give it a perfect score because in is built a little cheaply, but it performs equally to the comet CSB-790A for half the price.

Works great if your NOT moving Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have to totally agree with the prior review. I purchased one of these last weekend at Dayton, & it managed to fold over three times in the 350 mile trip home. After the third stop I simply took it off. The lack of a locking collar allows causes it to fold over while your driving. I got cheap and bought this low end item & thats exactly what I got: A cheap, low end item.

Works well when not folded over Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The JT7905 is a 2m/440Mhz fold-over vertical antenna for mobile use and it works well when not folded over. The problem and the reason for the low score is that there is no locking mechanism at the fold-over point which is weak in itself. At 60mph or more on the highway, the antenna kept folding over to its weight and wind resistance. I simply could not use it while on-the-road and folded over horizontally and cannot recommend it to anyone because of this.
