Not the best looking speaker but it sounds great. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought two of these big speakers on ebay for a very good price to use with my two Yaesu ft-450 transceivers. They are a complete size mismatch to my radios but the speakers sound very clear and crisp. Quality, crisp sound from around the world entering my ham is what I'm looking for.

Ugly, but sounds very good. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Finding the right speaker is about as hard as choosing the right power supply. Enter my old SP-901P that I had buried in a closet. It's ugly (by todays standards), it doesn't match either rig I currently own, and the phone patch is useless - But, the audio quality is very good!

I can crank up the audio on my FT-991 without issues, and enjoy some nice low-end response too.

If you see one at a hamfest, you may only spend $20. Compared to the price manufacturers charge for smaller footprint, crappy sounding speakers, this is a deal.

Very Good Value Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is a bare bones external speaker to match the FT-901DM, FT-902 or FT-101Z Yaesu transceivers. The P stands for Phone Patch, it has a built in phone patch unit which can allow the operator to hook it up to the landline for phone patching operations (I do not use this function).

The basic external speaker is a very nice compliment to the Yaesu FT-901, it does not have any built in passive audio filtering like newer external speakers. The sound is actually quite good and easily handles AF from the transceiver. I hooked up mine to a radio shack DSP-40 filter and this does give it additional filtering and brings it up to speed. Refer to other reviews on the inexpensive DSP-40 unit.

For US$33.00 this is really a steal and hard to beat if you think about it, it does have phone patching also.

It could match up with other transceivers quite well and is a good inexpensive way to have a good external speaker. Recomended.
