Super High Power Amp Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
All I can say is wow! I recently received my converted SB-220 from Lou. The Amp is a great performer that will easily put out around 1,400 PEP. The Amp is super clean, and looks great, both inside and out! Lou is also great on communication during the process, and after you receive the Amp. He really cares that your experience is positive. I highly recommend a King Conversion Amp as a "must" for serious 6 meter operation.

6m SB220 Conversion Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I normally don't submit reviews but have decided to make an exception this time. My experience with Lou has been OUTSTANDING. His customer service is "old school" - he answers all questions thoroughly and promptly. He delivers when and what he says he will. I purchased an already converted SB220 from him and it is great. Well over 1Kw output with less than 50W drive and it looks almost new. The fine packing job Lou does insures a safe delivery. HIGHLY recommended.

Best bang for your buck. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have a converted SB-220 that I bought from Lou. Operation is excellent with this amp. Tuning is smooth. Output is more that I expected. I'm getting close to 1400 watts out with 90 watts of drive. I get great reports on the quality of my signal and have no problems with RFI. That is impressive for a 6m amplifier. I live in a subdivision and TVI/RFI can be a big pain for me.

I got Lou to paint mine black. I've never been fond of the appearance of Heathkit amps. He did a nice job with the retrofit. It's not the prettiest amp that I've seen, but for the money I don't think you can beat it.

The bottom line is I recommend this amplifier to anyone looking for a good 6m amplifier at a good price.

Took a AL 80B and converted HF linear amp to 6 meters Time Owned: more than 12 months.
What an amp. I get 1200 watts for a fraction of the cost. Very professional and good tech support. A little over $1200.00 invested. and if I had to purchase a 6 meter amp like this it would cost me over $3000.00 You be the judge. Have a good one KI4ZZR

Great Work Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just received my new amp from Lou. His work is great and the amp performs flawless. I purchased the amp from Lou at a very fair price. Full power output and tunes really smooth. Now, cannot wait until the next "E" season to give it a real test.

I took a look at it with my spectrum analyzer and this ole gal is really clean. No out of band problems. A friend of mine is less than two miles away and he reported the same results. The secret must be the little nine volt battery..!!

If you are looking for a full QRO amp for six meters, you cannot go wrong with a "King Conversion" amp from Lou. His stuff is rock solid.

Great 6M AMP Conversion Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This is a short update to my earlier review. I have had the King converted AL-80B amp for about a year now. I also have a K3 which easily drives the AL-80B to 1200+ watts, on 6M, with about 40W -50W drive. This 6M amplifier conversion performs flawlessly.

Put that old amp back to work Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I had Lou convert an AL80A to 6M for me. I wasn't getting any use out of it. I have better HF amps. Lou did a good job of it. The amp puts out up to 900 watts. I don't like to push a single 3-500ZG as hard as some folks. I run it at about 800 watts. The tuning is very smooth. Better than many amps are on 10M. Lou is a great guy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone. I now have a fine 6M amp instead of something sitting around in my closet. A very good move on my part! I am all ready for this summer's E's season.

Nice conversion Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Since analog channel 2 television will be gone soon, I thought I would upgrade my 6-meter station in preparation for solar cycle 24. I read the good reviews for hf amplifier conversions performed by Lou at King Conversions. I didn’t have a SB-220 to convert so I purchased one from Lou. This saved me the effort of finding one, having it shipped to me, checking it out to verify it was usable, then shipping it to Lou. The converted amplifier looks great. The interior doesn’t resemble a conversion—it looks like it always was a well-designed monoband amp. With a momentary key-down of 100 Watts of drive, I noted the tubes were operating at 2500 VDC and 800 mA with 1200 Watts output. This corresponds with what the Eimac data sheet shows for AB2 operation of a 3-500Z times two.
