Nice handie Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Super nice handie, and great for the ham/boater.

Very versatile Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I use it for 2m ham (wide, PL tones), marine (all pre-programmed) and Coast Guard Auxiliary (narrow, DCS). Works perfectly in all 3 modes. Feels solid. Holds charge for weeks. Also has a very sensitive WX band receiver. The programming cable for a VX-7, sold by RT Systems, works with the CE68 software.

The primary display is only 3 characters, and you have to be a little creative in your abbreviations. But there's a small scrolling 12 character display to remind you of what you meant when you programmed "An0" on the primary display.

As others have mentioned, the included accessories are worth a lot. As always, ditch the little rubber duckie and get a longer SMA 2-meter whip.

Recent internet price was $116, shipping included. It's truly a hidden gem of a bargain.

Part 80 and 90 all in one, tough enough to drive nails with Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
First I'll give the cons....

It's not front panel programmable, which is part of being a part 90 certified non-Fed radio.

It does not have the external power jack as the ham cousin VX-170 has.

The pros....

You can use it as a hammer (I did once, drove a nail into a piece of wood once)

Waterproof as a duck's butt, perfect for those who do indeed use it for it's intended role of a marine-band HT.

Cost....If you add the costs of what it comes with (1400Mah NimH, AA case, two charging cables, drop in cradle) you're basically getting the radio for $20 or so. It uses all the accessories of the VX-170 as well.

If you have a need for a part 90 radio for business, public safety where you have no choice but to supply your own radio, etc, this allows you to be a very cost-effective way of being on the air.

A tip for lower cost, if you do not need CTCSS/DCS or the 12 segment scrolling alpha display, pick up the HX270S which has been seen as much as $40 less than the average HX370S prices.

Excellent value and multi-use radio Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Comments – nice solid radio, battery lasts for about 24 hours if not too long winded, sensitive receiver, excellent range, free accessories worth almost as much as radio, legal for commercial use. We purchased over a dozen for our SAR group and they work well. You should speak about 2 inches from the mike as its designed for a noisy environment such as on a ship or with kids in the car. Mike jack is also programming jack. If you travel a lot and access a number of repeaters with PL you may want to have the programming kit handy. For use with mobile antenna get a SMA male to BNC or SO-239 adapter, preferably the type with the flat bottom as seen on eBay.
