Good rig Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This was my first rig. Worked great for me. No complaints that I can think of.

It works Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I can't really complain. It does work. I bought this radio used, with the intention of dedicated packet rig. I have noticed some "funky" display issues (it sometimes gets wacky). I also noticed the antenna connection is poo, to be nice. I had to repair it, and noticed it had been repaired before. I will not suggest this radio as a primary rig, but a great backup or starter. I'd personally suggest a "mounted" SO 239, over a coaxial "dongle" hanging off.

No problems, good rig Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Rig is just like the HTX 242 in feature but better quality. Microphone looks like a Kenwood. Expanded receive comes with transmit (drawback if you don't pay attention). Good receive sensitivity and adequate power (50 watts).

OK Rig for the Money Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have been using the AR-146 for more than one year. I use it for T-hunting and for base operation. Pros: The rig has nice audio characteristics on TX, and functions are easily accessed. Cons: ADI should have put in a DTMF and tone squelch board as standard equipment, rather than waiting for the AR-147. Rig runs warm, and heats up with even short QSO. Front end is moderate, but is easily overcome with a modest pager signal. Also, LCD Display tends to flicker occasionally, particularily when running the display a the dim setting.

what a work horse Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Have owned the AR-146 now for over 2 years. I have operated it mobile, base, portable, insied out, etc. I have had to repair the antenna coax coming out of the rear of the radio twice. This was due to moving the radio from the car to the house everyday for 6 months. I still use this radio daily as a base station, and would buy another one in a heartbeat if I needed another.
