Review Summary For : OptiBeam OB5-6 (high performance 5el monoband Yagi 6m)
Reviews: 4MSRP: 380
Description:
Description: The OB5-6 is a modern computer optimized 5 element wide spaced OWA design for the 50 MHZ range.
Gain and pattern are stable across the entire 6m band and represent the absolute optimum to be achieved on this 4.50 meter (15 foot) long boom.
The SWR is extremely flat from the beginning up to the end of the band.
The entire construction (boom, elements) is extra heavy duty.
This is the 6m monoband Yagi for the OM with extremely high demands.
Product is in production

Excellent 6M Beam and very Durable! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have owned this antenna for 18 months. It performs like a 5-element beam should and the SWR is better than advertised. The antenna is extremely well constructed and has withstood 80mph wind at my location. These 80mph winds broke the mount on a WARC band dipole 5 feet above the OB5-6 which then fell onto the OB5-6. It was like this for over a week before I managed to remove the broken antenna. The OB5-6 suffered no damage at all and works the same as it did before. The antenna uses first-rate components and the assembly is child play. I did not need to contact the manufacturer and it went together in a little over an hour. While I did not need to contact Optibeam on assembly I have asked questions of Thomas on Optibeam antennas in the past and have received quick responses with more detailed information than I would have ever expected. A good company to deal with and great antennas!

Great quality antenna Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have used this antenna for 1,5 year with a lot of joy.Very well constructed like a tank with great performance.
When you have the Optibeam OB5-6 you will recognize the german engineering that will guarantee of long time of use.
The choice of material is excellent and put it together is not difficult.
And if you have any qeustions, the support is great and important : fast !

Curious about Optibeam ? look at my website www.pa3hgt.nl (half way down, knob "Optibeam") where there are lots of photo's to see the german engineering of HF-beams which is also implemented on this strong 6 meters performer.

I LIKE this beam! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
In use now for just over a year. Survived a direct hit by hurricae Irene. Zero damage. Decided to chase VUCC on 6 meters with no prior experience on this band. Worked a total of 165 grids over the course of 3 contests and a few weekends in 2011. All with 100 watts and a well-used IC746PRO. This antenna is a the top of a 24' chrome molly mast with HF OptiBeams below. (OB9-5 in the middle and OB4030 on the bottom.) There appears to be zero interaction between any of the beams. This stacked configuration makes for very, very fast band changes. See my review of the OB4030 for more information regarding the use of NN4ZZ TiltPlates with the two HF OptiBeams. (TiltPlates not needed for the OB5-6 at the top of the mast, since a tilt-over tower can get it close enough to the ground for initial construction or maintenance.) Thank you, Tom, DF2BO, for a great product. 73 de Bill KM1C Oriental, NC, USA

Great performer Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have a OB5-6 above my OB16-5 .

I'm an optibeam addict and I can assure these are the best built antenna's ever .

Mechanical very strong and electrical very intelligent design.

Mu OB5-6 serves me very well on 6 meters; I run 100 watts on this band and work everything station I hear. There are some big guns around here using KW's and large stacked yagi's and of course they put out better signals than I do.

But being only "sporadic" on 50 mhz , it is a great solid antenna, well built and worth the money .
