Really good! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Have paired this up with an FT-817. What a nice set-up. The ALC works flawlessly and turns the 817 into a full fledged 45W radio. SWR? The ALC from the HL-45B signals the FT-817 & the 817 backs down its power. I recommend this product, especially to 817 users. You sound just as you do at 5W, except 2 S Units stronger!

Simply - "Just Marvellous" Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I ordered the HL-45B directly from the factory in Japan. I dealt with Miwa Kikuchi in the main and was treated with excellent service and kindness throughout - faultless! Many other companies could learn from Tokyo Hy-Power!
The whole purchase and delivery from Tokyo to London took under a week!

I took the HL-45B, a Yaesu FT-817ND & LDG tuner to southern Poland over Christmas/New Year. The first time the HL-45B was used was in Poland - a typical "lash-up" holiday station! It worked perfectly - and has continued to do so since.

On return to the UK it has been 24 hour soak tested and subject to some serious evaluation (both test bench & on-air) and continues to work perfectly. I never expected otherwise from this make. I will make up a simple "U" shaped bracket with a 40 mm Papst fan to keep it cool for HF Field Day, etc.

This is a quality company providing not only quality equipment; but also quality service.
They are to be recommended to the Amateur community!

Superb! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
When one hears the name Tokyo Hi-Power, and sees "Made in Japan" on the back panel, one expects great quality. Well this amp is that and superbly more. The built quality is the best I have seen. It is exceptional!. Tokyo Hi-Power has designed and built a beautiful piece of electronics. In an age when most of the component assemblies are made in the lesser, cheaper manufacturing Asian countries, Tokyo Hi-Power has chosen to stay with production made in Japan. This is truly a jewel of Ham Radio. A lot of companies could take lesson in quality from this product. Nice Job Tokyo Hi-Power!

A very nice amp for the FT 817 ND Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The amp is a very nice accessory for the FT 817 ND. The automatic band change feature is nice. The amp puts out around 50 atts.

Good, needs a little attention. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Picked it up 12/29/2008 at HRO Delaware, got it home and connected, found that band select was not operable, indicators for multible bands were lit!
Problem was resolved by adjusting trimmer capacitor on frequency select board crystal oscillator-it was not oscillating! Proceeded with test/operation, found lower than specified output on 17 meters, corrected problem by removing ONE turn of wire from coil #L-9, In the harmonic filter. Unit now works GREAT on all(HAM) bands, 160-6 meters, with full rated power.--On air reports were very good, reports stated "sounds clean"--73, KC3VO-Bob Curry

Surprised Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just unpacked the HL-45B earlier today and played with it for a few hours.

Connected it to my FT-817ND.
Delighted by the auto-band set feature.

Performs great on PSK31.
Gives me 10Watts out with the lowest power setting on the 817. Runs cool.

Quite sensitive to FM drive.
Appears to give about 30 watts out on FM with the lowest 817 power setting. I can easily hit the local 6M FM repeaters.

Things could change tomorrow and others may have different experiences but my out-of-the-gate
impression is positive.

I will update this review in a few weeks.
